The column chart illustrates the average hours of housework per week done by married women in comparison with married men
It can be seen from the chart that women, in general, do more housework than men
The more children women have, the more housework they do Women without children spend 30 hours per week on house chores This number goes up rapidly by 20, from 30 to 50 when they have 1-2 children With 3 or more children, the average hours of housework per week done by women only rise slightly to 55
On the contrary, hours that men spend on housework fall significantly as they have more children Husbands are more likely to help their wives at first, with 20 hours of housework done But then this number dropped by a half to 10 when they have more then 3 children
Overall, the study shows that married men are unequal to married women in doing housework To deal with this problem, housewives can employ charwoman or ask husbands for help with the housework Not only girls but also boys should be taught to share the house chores so that they will have responsibility to their partners in family life
