I Pre–writing:

1.Warm–up: Shark attack

C O M P L A I N T (9 letters)

– Introducing the new lesson, based on the game

2.Pre–teach:

– Complain (v) : phàn nàn , than phiền (explanation)

Its noun is complaint

– Complication (n) : sự phức tạp, sự rắc rối (translation)

– Resolution (n) : quyết định, sự giải quyết vấn đề (translation)

– Float (v) : trôi, nổi, bồng bềnh (visual)

– Prohibit (v) : ngăn cản, ngăn cấm (translation) – Fine (v) : phạt bằng tiền (situation)

3 Matching:

A complaint letter has five sections  SCR AP

1 Situation a, States the reason for writing

2 Complication b, discribes the problem

3 Resolution c, end the letter politely

4 Ordering the letter (P.52)

-Set the scene : Mr Nhat wrote a letter to the director of L&P Company in HCM City.The five Sections are not in the correct order Label each section with the appropriate letter: S_C_R_A_P

- Ask students to work in pairs to give out their answers

II While –writing:

1 Reading the production on page 53 (b) individually

2 Comprehension questions about the production

c To whom do you write the letter ?

d What suggestion do you want to make?

e Any future plan you want to make?

3 Practice writing the letter

*Suggestion:

Dear Mr President,

I’m writing to you about (the catching of fish of many people…) the problem of (fishing) fish catching in the lake behind my house

I am very worried because people (don’t use fishing rod or net but) use electricity

to catch fish After a short time they left the lake / place ,a lot of small fish died and floated on the water surface Other animals such as frogs, toads and even birds also died from electric shock waves

I would suggest the local authorities should prohibit and fine heavily anyone using this way of catching fish

I look forward to hearing from you and seeing the protection of environment from the local authorities

III Post–writing: Share and compare
