Phần A: ĐỘNG TỪ ĐẶC BIỆTgồm:
1) Đông từ như: IS , AM , ARE , WAS, WERE
2) Động từ khiếm khuyết: CAN; COULD; SHALL; SHOULD; WILL; WOULD; MAY; MIGHT; MUST; HAD TO; OUGHT TO; (NEED; DARE thỉnh thoảng là động từ đặc biệt); HAD BETTER; WOULD RATHER;
Ghi nhớ: Theo sau các động từ khiếm khuyết trên là V 0
3) Các trợ động từ( Auxillary verbs) như: DO; DOES; DID (sau các từ này phải có
V 0 vì nếu không có V 0 thì các động từ đó sẽ là động từ thường)
4) Các động từ như: HAVE , HAS, HAD (sau các từ này phải có V3/ -ed vì nếu không
có V 3 / -ed thì các động từ đó sẽ là động từ thường )
Như vậy, bất kỳ động từ nào không giống với các động từ đươv5 liệt kê bên trên điều là động từ thường

NHỮNG NGUYÊN TẮC CƠ BẢN CÂN NHỚ:
I: CÂU KHẲNG ĐỊNH đổi sang CÂU PHỦ ĐỊNH hoặc NGHI VẤN ở bất cứ thì (tense) nào của động từ, nếu có sẵn động từ đặc biệt thì ta:
1) Chỉ cần thêm NOT vào sau động từ đặc biệt để phủ định

2) Đem đặt động từ đặc biệt ngay trước chủ từ để tạo thành câu nghi vấn HOẶC tạo thành câu được viết dưới dạng đảo ngữ
Examples: They have lived in Paris for ten years ( Họ đã sống ở Ba Lê được
mười năm )
Have they lived in Paris for ten years? ( Họ đã sống ở Ba Lê được
mười năm hả? )
II: CÂU KHẲNG ĐỊNH đổi sang câu PHỦ ĐỊNH hoặc NGHI VẤN nếu không có
sẵn động từ đặc biệt thì ta mượn trợ động từ thích hợp để đổi Cách làm như hướng
dẫn sau đây:
1 CÁC THÌ HIỆN TẠI:
Examples: Peter goes to school every morning ( Peter đi học mỗi buổi sáng)
Peter does not go to school every morning ( Peter không đi học
mỗi buổi sáng)
Does Peter go to school every morning? ( Peter đi học mỗi buổi sáng phải không?)
They sing very well ( Họ hát hay )
They do not sing very well ( Họ không hát hay )
Do they sing very well? ( Họ hát hay không? )
2 CÁC THÌ QUÁ KHỨ: khi động từ chính không phải là động từ đặc biệt nói trên
Examples: They went to the zoo yesterday (Họ đã đi đến thảo cầm viên hôm
qua)
They did not go to the zoo yesterday (Họ đã không đi đến thảo cầm viên
hôm qua)
Did they go to the zoo yesterday? ( Có phải họ đã đi đến thảo cầm viên
hôm qua?)
Didn’t they go to the zoo yesterday? (Có phải họ đã không đi đến thảo
cầm viên hôm qua?)
Peter walked to school yesterday (Peter đã lội bộ đi học ngày hôm qua )
Peter did not walk to school yesterday (Peter đã không lội bộ đi học
ngày hôm qua )
Did Peter walk to school yesterday? (Có phải Peter đã lội bộ đi học ngày

Lưu ý: Ta có thể sử dụng một số chữ sau đây để phủ định về ý của câu trước:
NEVER, RARELY, SELDOM, HARDLY,
Ta cũng có thể sử dụng một số TIẾP ĐẦU NGỮ (PREFIXES) hoặc các TIẾP VĨ NGỮ (SUFFIXES) sau nay
để phủ định về ý của câu trước: UN_ , IM_ , IN_ , DIS_ , AB_ , IL_ , IR_ , hoặc _LESS,

Loại 1: Điều kiện có thật, có thể xảy ra ở hiện tại hoặc tương lai:
a) Điều kiện có thật, luôn luôn đúng:
IF S V 1 / -s / -es … , S V 1 / -s / -es …
Ex: If the sun rises in the east, it sets in the west
If you heat an iron bar, it expands
b) Điều kiện có thể xảy ra ở hiện tại hoặ tương lai:
IF S V 1 / -s / -es … , S will / shall V0 ……
Ex: If Tom goes to the zoo with you tomorrow, I will feast you two a big meal Loại 2: Điều kiện không bao giờ xảy ra ở hiện tại hoặc tương lai:
IF S were / V2 / -ed …… , S would V0 ………
Ex: If I were the Queen now, I would give you all what you ask for But I am

Loại 3: Điều kiện không bao giờ xảy ra ở quá khứ hoặc trái với quá khứ:
IF S had V3 / -ed ……, S would have V3 / -ed ………
Ex: If I had been a prince in the old times, I would have picked you a beautifully
wild flower
If my father had not married my mother, I would not have been born
If they hadn’t catched the traffic jam, they would have got home earlier
Lưu ý: … trừ khi ( unless)………= … nếu không ( if ….not… / ….or… )
Ex: You will fail the exam unless you study harder ( Bạn sẽ thi rớt trừ khi bạn học
chăm chỉ hơn)
= You will fail the exam if you don’t study harder ( Bạn sẽ thi rớt nếu bạn học
chăm chỉ hơn)
= You should study harder or you will fail the exam.(Bạn nên học chăm chỉ hơn
hoặc là bạn sẽ thi rớt)
