Games: visualizing

- Ask SS to work in groups of 5

- give each group a copy of the pictures

- Ask SS to work out a compound noun or a phrasal verb for each pair of pictures ( a, b, c, d)

- the 1th group to come up with all correct words/ phrases is the winner

- refer back to the pictures and go over the answers with the class

- Ask SS to think of how these words are related to sports news, and get them to try producing small pieces of news (short sentences) using such words
