Games: cut – up sentences
- give each Ss a copy of the task below
- Put Ss into groups
- Set a time limit of 4 minutes
- with the clues give, Ss work out the word in shaded squares by completing the word grid
- Ask groups to hand in their word grid
- A ward one point for each correct word from 1-8, and five extra points for the correct word in shaded squares
- go over the answers with the whole class

- arrange Ss to work in small groups
- give each group a handout of a thank-you letter
- tell Ss that three are some sentences that do not belong to the letter and ask them to read and find out which sentences do not belong
- call the groups to read their sentences aloud and check with the class
