During my internship at Sakura Saigon International Service and Trading Joint Stock Company, I had the opportunity to apply various types of knowledge learned at college to real work situations The main theoretical areas include translation, administrativeEnglish, communication skills, English teaching methodology and cross-cultural communication These foundations helped me understand how to use English effectively in a professional working environment.
APPLICATION OF THEORIES IN PRACTICE
Translation is the process of transferring meaning from one language to another while maintaining the same message, style, and context During my studies, I learned important translation principles such as: semantic equivalence - keeping the meaning accurate to the original Next is formal correspondence – using proper sentence structure and technical terms Lastly, context adaptation – adjusting language to fit the situation naturally.
At the company, I applied these theories when translating documents such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, authorization letters, invitations, business trip decisions, and study-abroad or visa files Understanding translation theory helped me ensure accuracy, proper terminology and consistency in bilingual documents.
Administrative English focuses on clarity, conciseness, and formality Knowledge from the English for Office Communication course helped me write professional documents, use polite language and follow proper layout structures. During the internship, I applied these theories in drafting: Business trip decisions, meeting invitations and leave applications; internal reports and administrative forms. These experiences helped me improve my professional writing skills and use English correctly in office communication.
2.2.3 Language teaching and communicative approach
During the internship, I assisted visa applicants in English speaking practice The following teaching theories were applied:
-Communicative language teaching: encouraging students to practice real-life speaking and listening.
-Task based learning: using activities like question and answer or interview simulations. -Phonetics and phonology: improving pronunciation, intonation and listening comprehension.
Applying these theories helped learners become more confident in English communication and also improved my own teaching and presentation skills.
2.2.4 Cross-cultural communication and media design
Understanding cultural background is essential when working in an international environment Knowledge from the English–American Culture course helped me understand differences in behavior, communication style, and workplace etiquette between Vietnam and Western countries This understanding allowed me to use appropriate expressions and attitudes when preparing documents for foreign partners, embassies and international applicants.
In addition, knowledge from the Presentation Skills course was applied when designing PowerPoint slides, delivering ideas clearly and supporting company events such as workshops and study-abroad promotion activities The combination of cultural awareness and presentation techniques helped me create professional and effective visual materials that aligned with both linguistic and cultural standards.
In conclusion, theoretical knowledge in translation, administrative English, language teaching and cross-cultural communication was effectively applied during the internship Combining theory with practice at Sakura Saigon Company helped me strengthen my professional competence, improve language skills and gain valuable experience for my future career.
STUDY OBJECTIVES AND SCOPE
OBJECTIVES OF THE INTERSHIP
The primary objective of this internship was to apply the theoretical knowledge and language skills acquired from the English Language program at Bach Khoa Sai Gon College within a professional corporate environment at Sakura Saigon Company The internship was designed to develop practical competencies in translation, administrative processing and client support.
Specific objectives of the intership included:
- To develop practical translation skills: this involved translating official administrative documents from Vietnamese to English, including Land Use Right Certificates, Birth Certificates, Business Registration Certificates, Marital Status Confirmations and official correspondence.
- To gain experience in administrative and dossier processing: it required checking and preparing applicant dossiers for various purposes, such as Australian tourist/family visit visas and marriage visas to Sweden It also included tasks like drafting Power of Attorney forms , completing residence confirmation forms and correcting DS160 forms
- To acquire skills in applicant training and support: this objective involved directly training visa applicants for embassy interviews Responsibilities included coaching them on appropriate demeanor and expression , as well as conducting practice interview sessions in both Vietnamese and English.
- To create professional support materials: it included utilizing tools like Canva Pro andPowerPoint to design basic English lesson plans and create presentations for internal company use.
SCOPE OF THE INTERSHIP
The internship was undertaken at Sakura Saigon Company The internship period spanned 14 weeks, commencing on July 14 th , 2025 and concluding on October 19 th , 2025 All activities were performed under the primary guidance of Ms Yen, the HumanResources Manager and Assistant to the Director , with additional support from company staff members, including Mr Dan and Ms Tuyen The scope of work encompassed document translation , administrative file processing and direct applicant interview coaching.

THE COMPATIBILITY BETWEEN THE TRAINING PROGRAM AND
During my internship at Sakura Saigon International Service and Trading Joint Stock Company , the knowledge and skills I learned throughout the English Language program at Bach Khoa Sai Gon College were effectively applied to real working situations The following points illustrate the compatibility between the academic training and the practical work performed at the company:
The knowledge and skills learned from the Translation and Interpretation course provided a solid theoretical foundation that helped me translate and proofread bilingual documents such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, residence confirmations and other administrative papers This knowledge was directly relevant to my main duties at the company, especially in processing study-abroad files and supporting visa applications for clients traveling overseas.
4.1.2 Using English in the office environment
Knowledge gained from courses such as Business English enabled me to draft and revise documents like invitation letters, authorization forms, business trip decisions and internal reports accurately and professionally, following the standard administrative format These skills were directly applied to preparing visa documentation and other external correspondence for the company.
The training in specialized vocabulary related to education, administration and visa processing helped me translate documents accurately and present information clearly when working with clients or international partners.
4.1.4 Communication and online teaching skills
Knowledge from the Presentation Skills course was effectively applied to organizing online English-speaking practice sessions via Google Meet for visa applicants At the company, I applied theories of Communicative Language Teaching and Task-Based
Learning to guide learners in speaking practice, pronunciation correction and visa interview simulations The implementation of online teaching demonstrated my ability to adapt to technology and my flexibility as a language educator.
The English–American Culture course helped me understand cultural differences in communication and behavior between countries, enabling me to use appropriate language, tone and attitudes when working with clients and foreign partners This contributed to building a professional and friendly image for the company.
THE INCOMPATIBILITY BETWEEN THE TRAINING PROGRAM AND
Although the academic curriculum provided useful knowledge that supported most internship tasks, several gaps still existed between theoretical study and the actual requirements of the workplace, as outlined below:

English Language students receive extensive training in language and translation, but not enough in the structure and format of administrative documents, legal procedures and visa-related terminology This made it challenging for me to process formal documents and administrative forms with complete accuracy according to real-world standards.
4.2.2 Limited design and presentation skills
The curriculum focuses mainly on linguistic content rather than document layout or design skills However, in practice, interns are required to use software such as Microsoft Word, Canva, and PowerPoint to prepare bilingual forms, letters and media publications - skills that were not deeply covered in the program.
Although communication skills were taught at school, they were primarily practiced in academic settings During the internship, I had to interact with clients through GoogleMeet instead of face-to-face, which required scheduling lessons, guiding learners,providing feedback and handling unexpected technical or communication issues These tasks demanded stronger soft skills and technological competence that had not been sufficiently trained in the program.
4.2.4 Lack of experience with modern office technology
While the college provided basic computer lessons, students had limited practice with translation tools, document management software and online data storage During the internship, I had to self-learn and explore new digital tools to meet work requirements efficiently.

CONCLUSION
The internship at Sakura Saigon International Service and Trading Joint Stock Company marked an important milestone in my academic and professional development During the three-month internship, I had the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge I acquired at the Faculty of Foreign Languages – Bach Khoa Sai Gon College to real work situations in the fields of translation, administrative English and communication.
Through hands-on experience, I improved essential skills such as document translation, English-Vietnamese proofreading, business correspondence and online communication with visa applicants, assisting them in practicing interview questions through online platforms I also learned how to design and prepare professional documents, manage client schedules and conduct English-speaking practice sessions for applicants.
The internship not only enhanced my linguistic competence but also helped me develop professional ethics, a sense of responsibility and adaptability in a multicultural work environment Working under the guidance of Ms Yen and other colleagues at the company, I became increasingly confident in performing assigned tasks, from translating legal documents to assisting with visa files and preparing events. Furthermore, the company provided opportunities for me to participate in events related to my major in English, such as the “Education USA U.S Higher Education Fair” and to assist in workshops, study-abroad counseling sessions for students.
However, the internship also revealed certain limitations My lack of prior experience in handling administrative documents and using digital tools such as Canva and PowerPoint made the first few weeks quite challenging Moreover, online communication required greater self-management, discipline and flexibility than I had initially anticipated Despite these challenges, I gradually overcame them by observing, practicing and learning from colleagues.
Overall, the internship helped me strengthen both my academic knowledge and practical skills, preparing me well for future professional challenges.
In conclusion, the internship at Sakura Saigon International Service and Trading JointStock Company has proven that the English Language training program offers strong practical value in translation, administrative English and communication However, the curriculum should be further improved to meet the real demands of modern workplaces particularly in administrative procedures, technological literacy and online teaching skills Updating the program toward a more technology-driven, practice-based, and digitally interactive approach will help English Language students like me become more confident, competent, and well-prepared for the needs of today’s dynamic labor market.
RECOMMENDATIONS
After completing the internship and this report, I would like to make several personal recommendations to improve the training program and internship process:
5.2.1 For the Bach Khoa Sai Gon College
The English Language program should include more practical courses in translation, business correspondence and online communication to better prepare students for real work environments Training in software such as Microsoft Office, Canva and Google Meet should also be enhanced, as these tools are essential for modern office work and effective communication.
Based on the practical experience gained during the internship at Sakura Saigon Company, the following specific recommendations are proposed to enhance the English Language training program for students at Bach Khoa Saigon College:
-Adding more practice-oriented courses
The college should organize short-term workshops or courses on administrative translation, visa documentation and communication skills in international work environments to help students gain hands-on experience while still studying
-Enhancing training in technology and design skills
More lessons should be provided to train students in using Microsoft Office, Canva, Google Meet and bilingual document editing software These digital tools will support their document preparation, presentation and online teaching work effectively.
-Developing online communication and problem-solving skillsThe curriculum should include role-play and mock interview sessions through online platforms, enabling students to practice real-time communication, quick responses and online interaction in digital workplaces.
-Combining theory with practice Lecturers should design more applied exercises such as translating administrative letters, writing bilingual correspondence or conducting mock English-speaking sessions online so that students can apply their knowledge directly in class.
-Expanding internship duration and industry cooperation
The college should consider extending the internship period or collaborating with more international companies and organizations, allowing students to gain broader exposure to diverse work environments, especially those using online and hybrid work models.
5.2.2 For the Sakura Sai Gon Company
Sakura Saigon should continue welcoming English major interns and organize short- term workshops on visa procedures, document translation and customer service. Providing more structured guidance and feedback during the internship will help future interns learn faster and gain confidence in performing their tasks.
Through this internship, I realized that self-discipline, continuous learning and technological adaptability are key factors for success in a modern workplace In the future, I plan to continue improving my English proficiency, expand my vocabulary in specialized fields such as education and business, enhance my computer and communication skills.
