INTRODUCTION

Education, especially higher education, has a direct connection to sustainable development to some degree Universities must alsotake a more active role in advancing society by incorporating social responsibility into their administration, instruction,

research, services, and public outreach in light of the world’s rapid change

In essence, a variety of functions, including teaching, research, and application transfer, are together referred to as higher education According to a different perspective, higher education provides the fundamental human resources required for

managerrent, planning, design, teaching, and research, acting as a “nurturing system”

for all facets of life Thus, academic knowledge and professional training are the main functions of higher education, allowing graduates to adjust and fit in withthe fast-paced workplace of the world that is changing and accelerating ( According to Truong My Diem 2022)

We conducted an overview of Phenikaa's CSR activities, focusing on sustainable development goals, based on verified information and data to ensure transparency and accuracy This report airs to evaluate Phenikaa's efforts in contributing to economic, social, and environmental development, while also raising awareness among the community and stakeholders about the importance of social responsibility As an independent entity, we provide an objective perspective onthe effectiveness and impact

of these CSR activities and offer constructive recommendations to support Phenikaa in improving and expanding its sustainable initiatives

This report applies the National Standard TCVN ISO 26000: 2013 as a framework for analysis and evaluation of social resporsibility practices

October 10, 2007: Phenikaa University, initially Thanh Tay University, was

November 21, 2018: Officially renamed Phenikaa University by the Prime Minister, marking a major milestone

2.1 Internal Stakeholders

Leadership: The Board of Directors and university leadership significantly influence strategy, sustainability programs, and student support initiatives such as scholarships, hackathors, and career counseling

Teachers and Staff: Play a vital role by actively participating in CSR activities, proposing innovative ideas, and representing the university in community events, enhancing its reputation

2.2 External Stakeholders

Parents: Key influencers of students’ education, providing financial and emotional

support while shaping school policies through feedback

Employers: Impact curriculum development, brand building, and labor market integration through partnerships

Alnmni: Contribute finances, networking, and feedback, promoting sustainability, community engagement, and job opportunities

Government and Regulators: Shape university compliance and operations through policies, which sometimes require adjustments and additional resources

Academic and Business Partners: Provide funding, opportunities, and innovation, requiring balanced and transparent partnerships to ensure sustainable growth

3 ANALYSIS AND EVALUATION OF THE CURRENT IMPLEMENTATION

OF CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR) AT PHENIKAA

UNIVERSITY

3.1 Labors

Phenikaa University is committed to transparent labor policies that comply with ISO 26000 standarcs, International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions, and

Vietnam’s Labor Code With 87.8% of employees on contracts exceeding 24 months,

the university ensures job stability and prohibits discrimination in recruitment, promotion, and reward systems Worren hold 11 out of 62 leadership positions, with an average salary of 23 million VND/month, closely aligned with male counterparts earning 33 million VND/month, adhering to ILO Convention No 111 and Article 8 of the Labor Code

Since 2020, Phenikaa has implemented a “Collective Labor Agreement’, providing

annual salary increases of 5 - 10% and training support during structural adjustments, consistent with Article 42 of the Labor Code The university prioritizes privacy protection, with no recorded violations of personal data confidentiality It fully respects the right to freedom of association, enabling employees to form and join representative organizations to safeguard their rights Accordingtothe 2022 - 2023 annual report, there were no reported cases of dismissal, discrimination, or threats related to exercising this right

All employees receive timely salary payments, withaverage wages 3.5 times higher than the regional minimum wage Minimum salaries are regularly adjusted to reflect living costs The university enforces a 40-hour workweek, ensures leave entitlements,

and provides matiermity benefits In 2022, 15 female employees fully accessed these rights

Phenikaa prioritizes health and safety through regular medical check-ups, safety training, and maintaining a clean, smoke-free workplace Over 95% of employees undergo annual health examinations, aligning with ILO Convention No 155 and Vietnam’s Labor Code Flexible working hours, childcare programs, and spousal support initiatives are in place to promote work-life balance

The university respects cultural and religious traditions, offering flexible schedules, such as supporting Muslim employees during Rarmadan, consistent with ILO Convention No 169 Comprehensive social, health, and unemployment insurance contributions are made, with continuous improvements in employee welfare

Phenikaa collaborates with Phenikaa Hospital to provide 100% of employees with annual health check-ups It also conducts occupational safety training, emergency response programs, and psychological support initiatives to minimize occupational health risks Special policies protect vulnerable groups, including pregnant women and persons with disabilities

During significant organizational changes, the university provides advance notice and consultative meetings to mitigate adverse impacts, in compliance with Article 42 of

Vietnam’s Labor Code It facilitates resources for labor representatives to perform their

roles, granting access to financial and operational information

Phenikaa refrains from partnerships with entities restricting freedom of association and requires compliance with international labor standards from its partners Active participation in local employer organizations fosters social dialogue and broadens corporate social responsibility

The university has developed an integrated Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) management system, encompassing risk assessments, provision of personal protective equipment (PPE), modern firefighting systems, and standardized emergency exits According to the 2022 - 2023 report, risks in high-hazard areas are minimized through

technical and administrative controls In 2022, 12 safety training sessions were conducted, engaging 95% of employees All protective measures at Phenikaa are free, ensuring comprehensive worker protection without financial burden Employees retain the right to refuse hazardous work

Annual training programs such as the “Faculty Development Program” and the

“Effective Management Course” engage over 90% of employees, consistent with ILO

ISO 26000 standards and Vietnam’s Consumer Protection Law Information about

academic programs and scholarships is publicly disclosed on official communication channels, ensuring alignment with actual curricula and avoiding misinformation Tuition fee policies and refund processes are transparent, with no recorded complaints regarding unclear information

unfair terms, and provide comprehensive details on costs, conditions, and student benefits, as per the 2023 Admissions Regulations

The university’s complaint resolution system complies with national and

international stancardcs, ensuring transparency without requiring students to waive legal rights In 2022, over 95% of complaints were resolved on time, with no prolonged disputes Phenikaa has enhanced its online support system, enabling users to access service information and receive autormated feedback notifications, resulting in a comprehensive and efficient support process that improves user experience

“Green Talk” and initiatives to reduce plastic waste Features such as sensor-activated

faucets, dual-flush toilets, and waste sorting and hazardous waste disposal system in laboratories help conserve resources and reduce pollution, The 2022 - 2023 report

demonstrates Phenikaa’s commitment to environmental sustainability through energy-

saving devices like LED lights and high-efficiency air conditioners

Phenikaa limits personal data collection to essential purposes, focusing solely on providing educational services and student support Personal data is not used for other purposes, such as marketing, without explicit consent The 2019 - 2021 Sustainable Development report recorded no violations or complaints related to data misuse

Phenikaa ensures the continuous provision of essential services suchas clean water, electricity, internet, and infrastructure, even when users face financial difficulties During the COVID-19 pandemic, the university supported students by offering free dormitory accommodations, drinking water, and internet access, demonstrating solidarity with the student community
