Trang 2The World Health Organization defines violence as “the intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against oneself, against another person
or against a group or community, which either results in or has a high likelihood of resulting in injury, death, psychological harm, mal-development, or deprivation” - (World Health Organization, 2011) School violence comes in many different forms, sometimes as a result of family violence as well as community violence For many years, school violence has always been one of the unsolvable problems, especially for children and especially students; many cases are reported every year of various forms
of violence Education centers in America and parents are still indifferent and do not care about their students and children being able to store and use dangerous weapons
It seriously affects the psychology of students when they come to school and feel unsafe As people often say, children are the future of the country; That's why every child's childhood is always a special period and can be said to be an important foundation for that child's growth Childhood is always the period with the strongest impact on each person because cognition and behavior develop extremely quickly, negative things that happen during childhood can have an impact that affects the child's physical and mental health, as well as severely impact the child's development Family and school are always the two most basic environments that lead to school violence, when bemg too indifferent to children can cause unpredictable consequences, leading to many children being afraid of going to school feeling unsafe about surroundings Not only physically but also mentally affected, many children suffer from negative influences from family and school, which leads to the emergence
of aggression and psychological diseases School violence can be completely prevented, but many people still do not care about this issue, leading to an increase in

violence In this essay, I will list three types of violence and discuss them further along with the effects on students and ways to address these problems
More and more children gradually withdraw from people and society because they are victims of school violence In school environments, there are three main types of violence: physical and psychological violence, cyber violence, discrimination based on ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, etc School violence is increasingly common, and when it comes to school violence, we often think of physical violence first “It is the use of physical force against a child in a way that harms their health, development, or dignity.” (Hillis et al., 2016; Tourigny et al., 2008) It includes activities that affect children's bodies such as corporal punishment, using force to make children obey, poor academic results, and deterring misbehavior The use of force against children in a way that harms the child's health, development, or dignity, including actions such as: hitting, kicking, burning, biting, shaking, burning, poisoning, attempted strangulation Leach & Salvi (2014) reported that schools in many countries have no clear policy on physical violence instead of body injuries and even murder cases Poverty and income inequality are responsible for the violent crimes Assault may also be associated with poverty and income inequality (Hsieh & Pugh, 2006)
Next is psychological violence It is much scarier than physical punishment because psychological punishment will have more unpredictable consequences According to Aluede (2004), in instances of psychological abuse, the consequence of being subjected to such abuse becomes the fundamental representative of character in the life of the victim It can include humiliation, defamation, threats, etc And it also includes issues related to sexual violence such as rape, touching sensitive locations, sexual coercion, etc Boys and girls are both at nsk of sexual violence, not just any

gender The school environment is also one of the places where violence 1s very high, anyone can be a victim of school violence Experiencing mental violence for a long time can cause many psychological diseases to the victim such as: anxiety disorders, depression, stress, psychological trauma, etc
Nowadays, almost all parents expose their children to electronic media more and from a very early age That's why cyber violence gradually comes into being Most young people's time is spent on the Internet Therefore, it is difficult to control the content they can see and who they communicate with via social networks In relation to fear of cyber bullying, Henson and colleagues (2013) studied fear of online interpersonal victimization, which includes harassment, sexual solicitations, stalking, intimidation, and threats of violence They found “perceived msk” is a strong and positive predictor for fear of cyber-crime, and so is “victimization experience” Many students who are victims of physical and mental violence are also often victims of online violence Some bullying groups find ways to isolate the victim from the real world to the virtual world, causing that person to be completely ostracized It also causes negative effects to the victim's health and spirit
There are many ways to educate a bad child, just as we always have to pay attention to every little detail of our children and students when they show unusual signs In many cases, children were abused and bullied in childhood, leading to severe psychological effects; anti-social psychology arises
Surely the negative impact on victims of school violence is extremely serious
It not only affects the physical aspect but also causes victims to suffer from psychological diseases if they experience school violence for a long time Mild injuries can be bruises, scratches, or skin wounds; more serious injuries can be bleeding, permanent damage, or danger to the victim's life At the same time, the
Trang 5
victim's psychology must live in fear and threat, which can cause self-harm or anti- social behavior Victims of school violence also tend to close in on themselves, not daring to express themselves and unable to express their own opinions There are unfortunate children who suffer from both family and school violence, leading to more impulsive and aggressive behaviors than children with normal childhoods Children can relearn what happened during their childhood, which can lead to the fact that when they grow up, they will also tend to be violent towards their children like what they experienced The most undesirable consequence of school violence is that victims seek death to free themselves That's why we must always observe and pay more attention to our children Encourage them to talk about their daily life at school
as well as consider whether the mjuries on their body were caused by someone else or
not
Not only does it cause severe psychological and physical harm to the victim, but school violence also causes children to have poor academic performance and fear when going to school Research (Brown University, 2013) shows exposure to an incidence of violence contributes to lower test scores, but it doesn't necessarily impact grades because homework isn't affected Many studies have shown that school violence also causes victims to have difficulty sleeping, not sleeping deeply, leading
to physical and mental exhaustion; it shows that school violence makes acquiring knowledge at school difficult School violence is so terrible that it has killed many dreams and ambitions of little angels; leading to the victim simply thinking that he must live, he must survive, but does not have the right to pursue a happy life Feeling safe in school is an important aspect of school connection, and school connectedness
is increasingly understood to play an important role in student success (Thapa et al 2013) Female students will be more at risk of school violence than male students: such as concerns about the safety of the school environment, psychological diseases,
Trang 6
jealousy of high academic achievements and safety on the journey to school, etc This
is consistent with the literature indicating that physical aggression accounts for variance in grade point average more significantly for females than for males (Hammig and Jozkowski, Child & Youth Care Forum | 3 2013; Schwartz et al 2006) Additionally, there are indirect effects of different types of school violence, through concerns about school safety and psychological illnesses, on academic performance for both genders These findings reinforce the literature on the mportance of school safety on academic performance, particularly for female students (Hammig and Jozkowski 2013) For the above reasons, schools and parents must coordinate closely
to control this problem in the most thorough way Without the indifference from the school and the lack of concern from parents, this problem would not have developed
to such an extent For the future of the children, for the future of the country, we must take many measures to prevent school violence in the most optimal way
With the current situation and causes of school violence, cities should urgently and promptly come up with solutions to implement in the past to overcome school violence among adolescents However, to achieve the goal, there are still many difficulties and obstacles Especially during this time, school shootings always happen frequently and unexpectedly, affecting peers Research experts have proposed a few general solutions such as increasing responsibility and proactive coordination of police forces at all levels, educational management agencies and educational institutions Most notable is the assignment of responsibility to school principals and heads of educational institutions to plan and proactively coordinate with local authorities, students' families, especially the police force On the other hand, schools must always promote awareness among students to prevent school violence in schools and classrooms, such as advising, directly or indirectly (via phone, suggestion box)

and notifications let teachers and parents know to promptly detect, prevent, and handle individuals and gangs that cause violence Welfare services need to adopt an intersectional approach to domestic violence and its attendant issues (Ramon, 2015) whereby disability, race and ethnicity, gender, age, socio-economic _ status, immigration status, and sexual orientation of children and parents alike are considered Currently, issues related to race in America are still a painful topic Schools need to consider conducting psychology courses for individuals who are behaving abnormally and psychological sharing sessions In addition, the school needs to take measures to prevent shootings by installing metal detectors and having people patrol every hour
Teachers are always a bright example for students to follow Prevention programs in school are more effective when promoted through whole-school policies and practices than through single-component programs or individual teachers (Harne and Radford, 2008) Tighten the relationship between family, school, and society, creating a sociable environment where anyone can share their problems Because these three environments are always closely linked throughout each person's student life Young people themselves have expressed fears of being removed from home (Ellis et al, 2015) Particularly, the students will most likely distance from their family due to enmity and lack of understanding Program evaluations also show that while one-off education initiatives have some value in raising awareness of domestic violence, attitudinal change is better sustained when learning is revisited and reinforced in subsequent years (Harne and Radford, 2008) Having a close relationship will help us put in place measures to promptly prevent acts and signs of school violence from the beginning, avoiding serious and severe consequences later The content, manner and personnel delivermg domestic violence education in schools clearly require careful consideration to enhance student engagement and handle

student vulnerability (Fox et al., 2014) In addition, the government needs to create conditions for young people to have pure and healthy cultural activities, staying away from violent games Schools have an essential role to play, as well as student’s family, m tackling domestic violence and the following section examines how recent policy and practice have the potential to influence work in this area
In summary, this term paper has provided a comprehensive examination and analysis of three distinct types of violence, shedding light on their detrimental impact
on students and proposing necessary measures to address these pressing issues The findings of this paper align with existing research, which emphasizes the significant consequences of violence targeting children on their physical and psychological well- being According to a study by Flannery and colleagues (2004), school violence poses
a serious threat to students’ physical and psychological safety, hindering their ability
to learn and thrive academically This highlights the significant consequences of school violence on students' overall development Additionally, Smith and Brown (2019) assert that "school violence disrupts the learning environment, leading to decreased academic performance and lower educational attainment." This emphasizes the detrimental impact of violence on students' educational outcomes and prospects The education system of this generation has become a nightmare for students, as they struggle to perceive it as a second home due to the occasional occurrence of violence, which not only affects their academic achievements but also contributes to mental health issues Considering this, it becomes imperative for governments to be proactive
in implementing regulations that safeguard students’ nghts and well-being In that case, governments should be active to those regulations that can affect the student’s rights, teachers and parents play a significant role in contributing to a safe and

nurturing environment by actively communicating with students, understanding their situations, and intervening at an early stage This collaborative approach is essential in guiding students towards the right path and ensuring their well-being However, the measure may be complicated for adults when the issue is a difficult and multifaced endeavor that requires a comprehensive approach Despite these challenges, it is crucial to remain committed to finding solutions and creating safe learning environments for all students In conclusion, by combining the efforts of governments, educators, parents, and the wider community, we can work together to mitigate the impact of school violence and create an inclusive and supportive educational environment that fosters the well-being and success of all students
