INTRODUCTION

RATIONALE

In recent decades, metaphor has emerged as a universal phenomenon that captivates humanity in various ways, shifting from being viewed solely as a rhetorical device used by poetic geniuses Aristotle, one of the earliest philosophers to study metaphor, categorized it into four types based on analogy, highlighting its ability to enrich knowledge Further research by influential cognitive linguists George Lakoff and Mark Turner in 1989 also emphasizes the significance of metaphor in poetry, illustrating that it is rare to find poetry devoid of metaphorical language For instance, Emily Dickinson's poem "Hope Is the Thing with Feathers" exemplifies how metaphors enhance the texture and beauty of descriptions.
