I INTRODUCTION

Good afternoon everyone! Thank you for taking the time to join our presentation today We are Group 6, made up of seven members: Thao Nguyen, Ngan, Hoang Phuc, Minh Quyet, Hoang Loan, Minh Quan and Thanh Nam We are excited to present our topic on “Da Nang - A Famous Tourist Attraction”

Danang is one of five centrally run cities in Vietnam Located in the south central coast region, this is the central and largest city of the entire central region Acting as an important nucleus of the central key economic region Danang city is currently a class one urban area, a central city at the region

We chose Da Nang for our presentation because it is not only a key economic and cultural hub in Vietnam, but it also represents a model of sustainable development in tourism As a city that perfectly balances its rich history with modern growth, Da Nang serves as a fascinating case study for how tourism can drive both economic and social transformation

IL OVERVIEW

Da Nang, located in the central part of Vietnam It boasts a rich history as an important trading port during the ancient Cham civilization and played a crucial role during the Vietnam War Today, it has transformed into a thriving tourist destination, attracting visitors from all over the world Da Nang experiences a tropical monsoon climate, with the best months to visit being from February to May when the weather is warm and dry To get to Da Nang, you can fly directly to Da Nang International Airport, which offers both domestic and international flights Another option is to take a train or bus from major cities in Vietnam, such as Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City

1 Historical and Cultural Background

1.1 Historical Significance

Cham Kingdom

Da Nang was part of the ancient Champa Kingdom, a powerful Hindu-Buddhist civilization that dominated central and southern Vietnam from the 2nd to 15th centuries The remnants of the Cham culture can still be seen in nearby sites like My Son Sanctuary,

a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its ancient Cham temples and ruins Colonial Era and French Influence

In 1858, Da Nang was the first place where the French colonial forces landed in Vietnam, marking the beginning of French colonial rule The city, then called Tourane, became a vital colonial port The French constructed various administrative buildings, and Da Nang remained an important outpost for their trade and military operations

Vietnam War

During the Vietnam War, Da Nang was one of the most critical locations for the U.S military It was home to a large air base used for military operations and logistics The Da Nang Air Base was one of the busiest in the world at the height of the war Many battles and operations were launched from the city, making it a significant location during the conflict

Post-War Development

After the reunification of Vietnam in 1975, Da Nang played a crucial role in the country’s post-war reconstruction The city transitioned from a war-tom area to a burgeoning economic hub, particularly in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, with significant investments in infrastructure and tourism

Today, Da Nang symbolizes Vietnam's rapid modernization while retaining its cultural and historical roots The city has become a major economic and tourist hub, and its historical landmarks, such as Marble Mountains, Cham Museum, and ancient pagodas, draw visitors interested in Vietnam's past

Cham Culture

Da Nang was once part of the Champa Kingdom, and the influence of the Cham civilization is still evident The Cham Museum, established by the French in 1915, houses the world’s largest collection of Cham sculptures, showcasing Hindu deities, mythical creatures, and intricate stone carvings from the 5th to the 15th century

Traditional Festivals

Da Nang hosts several local festivals that reflect its cultural identity The Cau Ngu Festival, for example, is a traditional fishing festival where fishermen pray for good luck and safe journeys Another notable event is the Quan The Am Festival at the Marble Mountains, a Buddhist festival celebrated in honor of the bodhisattva of compassion Religious Heritage

The city is home to a variety of religious sites, including pagodas, temples, and shrines that showcase the spiritual traditions of the Vietnamese people Linh Ung Pagoda

on Son Tra Peninsula, with its towering Lady Buddha statue, is a prominent example, reflecting the city’s deep-rooted Buddhist culture

The surrounding areas of Da Nang are known for traditional crafts passed down through generations Villages near the city specialize in skills like stone carving at the Marble Mountains, producing intricate sculptures, statues, and ornaments, while other villages practice pottery, silk weaving, and wood carving

Cuisine

Da Nang’s food culture is an integral part of its heritage, with local specialties like

Mi Quang (a noodle dish), Banh Xeo (crispy pancakes), and Cao Lau (a noodle dish with pork) reflecting the culinary traditions of central Vietnam The cuisine is a blend of fresh ingredients and complex flavors, often influenced by both Cham and Vietnamese heritage

This blend of ancient and modern influences gives Da Nang a unique cultural identity, making it an important destination for those interested in Vietnam’s diverse history and traditions

Da Nang, a coastal city in Vietnam, is renowned for its stunning landscapes, rich culture, and vibrant atmosphere It has become a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists

Ba Na Hills is one of the most famous tourist spots in Da Nang Known for its breathtaking views and cool climate, it features the world's longest cable car ride, which takes you up to the summit of the hills Once you reach the top, you can explore beautiful gardens, enjoy local cuisine, and take stunning photos of the picturesque landscape Golden Bridge

A highlight of Ba Na Hills is the Golden Bridge, a unique structure held up by giant stone hands This architectural marvel has quickly become an Instagram sensation, offering visitors a stunning backdrop against the mountains and sky Walking on the bridge gives a sense of being suspended in the air, making it an unforgettable experience Marble Mountains (Ngu Hanh Son)

The Marble Mountains are a cluster of five marble and limestone hills, each representing one of the five elements: metal, wood, water, fire, and earth Here, you can find ancient Buddhist sanctuaries, caves, and breathtaking views from the peaks Exploring the area provides a blend of nature, culture, and spirituality, making it a perfect destination for travelers seeking a unique experience

My Khe Beach

My Khe Beach is famous for its white sandy shores and crystal-clear waters It is

an ideal place for sunbathing, swimming, and enjoying water sports The beach is well- equipped with restaurants and cafes, allowing visitors to relax and enjoy delicious seafood while taking in the beautiful ocean views

Linh Ung Pagoda

Located on the Son Tra Peninsula, Linh Ung Pagoda is home to a massive statue

The Cham Sculpture Museum houses the largest collection of Cham artifacts in the world, showcasing the rich history and culture of the Cham civilization The museum features intricately carved statues and sculptures that tell the story of this ancient culture, making it a fascinating stop for history enthusiasts
