Trang 3I Definition of travel by air
1 Definition
Arr travel is a form of travel using
vehicles such as airplanes, jets,
helicopters, hot air balloons, gliders,
parachutes, or anything else that can
sustain flight maintenance The use
of air travel began to increase
significantly in the 1930s: the
number of Americans flying
increased from about 6,000 in 1930
to 450,000 in 1934 and to 1.2 million An S7 Airlines Boeing 767-300ER landing
in 1938 This number continued to increase sharply in recent decades, doubling
worldwide between the mid-1980s and 2000 Air travel can be used for both domestic and international travel and is often a mode of transport preferred by businessmen and
tourists Air travel has revolutionized the way people travel and made it easier for people
to connect with others from different parts of the world
2 History
1783 was a watershed year for airships and aviation From
June 4 to December 1, five aviation firsts were achieved in France On June 4, the Montgolfier brothers’ unmanned hot air balloon lifted a sheep, a duck, and a chicken ina hanging basket below in Annonay Professor Jacques Charles and the Robert brothers on August 27 flew an unmanned hydrogen balloon Hydrogen gas is produced
by a chemical reaction during the filling process Two months later, The Montgolfiers made their first manned flight, a tethered hot air balloon with people on board, at the Folie Titon in Paris The pilots were scientist Jean-

Trang 4King Louis XVI initially decreed that convicted criminals would be the first pilots, but Rozier, along with the Marquis Francois d'Arlandes, successfully petitioned for the honor They floated 8 km (5.0 mì) in a hot air balloon powered by wood fires 9 km (5.6 miles)
in 25 minutes Finally, on the first of December, Jacques Charles and Nicolas-Louis Robert launched a manned hydrogen balloon from the Jardin des Tuileries in Paris They reached an altitude of about 1,800 feet (550 m) and landed at sunset in Nesles-la- Vallée after a flight lasting 2 hours and 5 minutes, covering 22 miles (35 km) After Robert got off the bus, Charles decided to go up alone This time he flew quickly to an altitude of about 3,000 meters (9,800 ft), where he saw the sun again but also suffered extreme ear pain
Sir George Cayley was first called the
"father of flying" in 1846 During the last
years of the last century, he began the first

rigorous study of the physics of flight and
then designed the first modern heavier-
than-air aircraft Among his many
achievements, his most important
contributions to aviation include:
clarifying our ideas and laying down the
principles of heavier-than-air flight,
achieving scientific understanding
learning about the principles of bird
flight, conducting scientific aerodynamic
experiments demonstrating drag and
proper arrangement, movement of the Sir George Cayley’s 1849 triplane design center of pressure and the increase in lift due to curvature of the wing surface, determine configure modern aircraft to include fixed wing, fuselage and tail assemblies, demonstrate manned, gliding flight, set the principles of power to weight ratio in sustained flight The aviation industry emerged in the early 1900s when aircraft designers in several countries succeeded in testing the first flights On December 17, 1903, Orville and Wilbur Wright successfully invented the first powered airplane after four years of research The first flight lasted only 12 seconds, at an altitude of 37m at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina
Trang 5The airline industry has many records to this day For example, a drone operated by the
US Army and manufactured by Airbus flew for 64 days, 18 hours, and 26 minutes before suddenly crashing in Arizona - just four hours after breaking the record for longest continuous flight ever Additionally, the largest operational aircraft is 7.13 m (23.39 ft) long, 4.37 m (14.33 ft) high and 2.10 m (6.88 ft) wide and is operated by Schreinerei Fust AG (Switzerland) in Wil, St Gallen, Switzerland reached on May 6, 2017
Holding their trophies for the world record
endurance flight are Robert Timm, Preston
Foster, Warren Bailey and John Cook
Additionally, the most passengers ever transported on a single flight was in 1991 during Operation Solomon's evacuation of Ethiopian Jews 1086 people boarded the 747 in Addis Ababa When they landed in Jerusalem, there were 1089 passengers Three babies were born during the flight In 2015, André Borschberg and Bertrand Piccard flew a record distance of 4,481 miles (7,211 km) from Nagoya, Japan to Honolulu, Hawaii in a solar-powered aircraft, the Solar Impulse 2
II Forms
Arr travel plays a pivotal role in the realm of modern tourism, offering a plethora of options for travelers seeking to explore the world The evolution of aviation has led to a multitude of air travel types, each offering distinct experiences, conveniences, and thrills From the quintessential commercial airlines to the cutting-edge realm of space tourism, air travel in tourism has transformed how individuals traverse the globe

III Procedures for passengers traveling on flights
Before departing on all domestic flights, the first thing you need to do is buy a plane ticket to your destination You can go to airline websites or ticket counters to book flight
Trang 8tickets You should buy a few months in advance to have more choices in ticket prices and airlines
After booking your flight ticket, you just need to wait until the day of your flight and go
to the airport to check-in There are currently 2 ways for you to check - in before the flight: direct check-in and online check-in If you check in directly at the airport: You need to be there about 2-3 hours before your flight time to check in First, you need to follow the flight update board at the airport to set your check-in counter number When you arrive at the counter, you need to present your identification documents and airline
ticket (online airline ticket code) to complete check-in procedures and weigh your checked baggage during the flight However, you can choose to check in online for more convenience You just need to follow the steps according to the instructions on the airline's website This helps you save quite a bit of waiting time
and is much easier than checking in Check in online directly After checking in, you will go inside to conduct a security check with security scanners on luggage and passengers The purpose of this activity is to review and detect explosives, weapons, and dangerous items that can affect flight security For the security check process to go smoothly, you need to keep in mind the following points: 1) Observe the actions of the person in front and follow suit, 2) Arrange furniture and luggage scientifically to avoid loss, 3) You should limit wearing metal objects on your body, 4) You should choose shoes that are easy to put
on or sandals to make the testing process go faster Also, depending on the type of flight ticket, you will enter the waiting room or boarding gate after completing the security check Waiting time usually ranges from 30 to 40 minutes During this process, you can have a snack or relax a bit, but you need to monitor the speaker or screen announcements
to make sure you don't get on the plane late and miss your flight
After boarding the plane, you will be instructed by the flight attendant on where to sit, where to store your luggage, how to fasten your seat belt, and what to note when taking the flight During the flight, you need to keep your baggage check papers and ticket stubs carefully throughout the flight so that 1f you lose your belongings, it will be easier to deal
Trang 9with You are advised to not use phones,
laptops, and electronic devices while flying,
and keep seats clean, and to limit travel
You will receive a notification from the
loudspeaker when the plane is about to land
but do not move until you hear the flight
attendant instruct you to get off the plane If
you don't have luggage, you can go straight to
the airport If you have luggage, you will be
directed to the baggage claim location by the
flight attendant
The luggage will be placed on the conveyor belt, Passenger's luggages
you just need to find it and take it back If it is checked baggage, you need to take one more step and compare the code on the luggage with the code printed on the boarding pass with the airport staff If it matches, you will be able to take the luggage out outside
IV Differences between Domestic Flights and International Flights
Firstly, domestic flights are flights that operate within the borders of a
| particular country, connecting different cities or regions within that country These flights are typically used for short trips, covering relatively shorter distances On the other hand,
an international flight is a flight that
operates between two or more
Domestic Flights countries, connecting cities or destinations across national borders These flights are often used for long-haul trips, covering significant distances between countries or continents
Second, prices and regulations for domestic and international flights may be different Airlines may have separate fare structures and policies for domestic and international travel, including baggage allowance, ticket prices, and refund policies It is worth noting that although domestic flights are generally used for shorter distances, there may be exceptions, such as in larger countries with large territories where Domestic flights can cover significant distances
Trang 10Similarly, international flights may also include shorter routes between neighboring countries or regions Understanding the differences between domestic and international flights is essential for travelers to ensure they are aware of the specific requirements, procedures, and regulations related to their travel plans
Furthermore, domestic flights are
governed by different regulations than
international flights The regulatory
agency responsible for domestic
flights is usually the national aviation
authority, while international flights
are subject to the regulations of
multiple countries This means that
airlines operating international flights
must comply with the regulations of the International flights
countries they fly to and from, as well as the regulations of any other countries they may fly over during flight
Next, domestic and international flights also differ in procedures For example,
passengers on domestic flights must generally arrive at the airport at least one hour before the scheduled departure time, while passengers on international flights must generally arrive at the airport at least two hours before the scheduled departure time expected This
is because international flights include additional procedures, such as passport control, security checks, and customs checks
Another difference between domestic and international flights is the services provided Domestic flights are typically shorter and may not include amenities such as in-flight entertainment, meals, or blankets On the other hand, international flights often include more services to help passengers stay comfortable during the long flight This includes in- flight entertainment, meals, and blankets, among other things
Finally, domestic and international flights also have different ticket prices Domestic flights often have cheaper fares than international flights This is because domestic flights are usually shorter distances and airlines have lower operating costs than international flights Additionally, international flights may also include taxes and fees that are not included in the domestic flight fare
