Trang 3From the beginning, it is my pleasure to have Mrs Ins Do Thi Kieu Lan's assistance anddirection from the start It would be really tough for me without your guidance and lead me tocomplete this test You have led me to many areas that I used to lack and that is my pleasure tostudy you
I especially thank my friends - Tran Dieu Thu and Nguyen Gia Bao Ngoc for always there toanswer all my questions and support me all the time during this project Not just to them, but also
to my friends and mentors who encouraged me to complete my report They have motivated me alot as they were the topic that I strive to understand and they have been together with methroughout the whole process
In addition, I would want to convey my appreciation to the 85 participants in my research It wasimpossible without their responsible reactions At first, my objective was simply about 60individuals, and I was very lucky that plenty of participants care for this survey and they began
to open up with me by giving their ideas about the issue
In conclusion, I am extremely appreciative to have you beside me: my teacher, my friends, mymentors, and my applicants I would want to thank you one again for everything
Trang 4Today's International Bachelor’s Degree students got themselves into a lot of problems while completing their assignments In order to discover a solution to the issue, it is essential to first identify these obstacles The findings of this study are presented to students not only to remind them of the significance of getting regular exercise but also to forewarn them of the challenges that might arise from a lack of such activity The researcher uses a survey to gather the responses
of the students and then draws inferences based on those responses In the end, the researcher will arrive with a definitive conclusion that will include potential remedies to the issues
Trang 5Chapter I: Introduction
1.1 Background of the research:
Doing assignments at home has been a long-standing problem for students Especially for collegestudents, they have plenty of reasons prevent them completing their homework The researchbelow illustrates the obstacles that hold back students from International Bachelor’s Degreefinishing their work at home
This phenomenon has been happening in secondary school, when the knowledge has graduallyincreased in difficulty and it takes concentration from each individual to solve it Therefore, students are counted not to do assignments until high school and the situation persists untilcollege As a consequence, these obstacles grow higher and become a habit There are 3 mainproblems for this phenomenon, first and foremost, the information they look up for is not reliableenough Secondly, the exercise is too difficult compared to the learning capacity Lastly, most ofcollege class study by group, so they will rely on other students to do it instead In order tounderstand deeply about the problems, I would like to investigate more about why studentsdecided not to finish their homework to understand more about the repercussions
1.2 Rationale:
This study is being done because several youths in Hanoi, especially International Bachelor’sDegree university students, wish to discuss their opinions and attitudes towards this course ofaction and the challenges that are keeping them from doing their schoolwork The reasons why Iwant to do this research is for understanding the problems Moreover, I want to proposingsolutions for the drawbacks of this phenomenon and help students overcome difficult
1.3 Purpose of the research:
Three primary objectives that I wish to accomplish with my research have been sorted out by thisinvestigation This study primarily seeks to pinpoint the problems that students are having.Secondly, this study will bring out the disadvantage of not doing assignments at home Thus, the
Trang 6some solutions As a result, International Bachelor’s Degree students will have a better choiceand have a different perspective on doing homework.
1.4 Research question:
1 What do you understand by barriers prevent students from completing their assignments?
2 Due to the studying on class, do you think it is enough to solve the assignments that hasbeen given? Explain it more clearly?
3 What do you think is the best way to get students to do their assignment?
1.5 Scope of the research:
The research focuses on National Economics University students, mainly InternationalBachelor’s Degree students The reason I choose them is because they have the same average age
of university students, which is main subjects in this research, so it is better to have a survey onthem Furthermore, the paper will interview at least 85 participants from an Internationalbachelor degree, about 25% of total 341 students By giving samples through a Google form forstudents to fill their points of view, the survey will be done in 12 weeks
1.6 Structure of the research:
There are a total of 5 chapters in this survey Firstly, chapter one will discuss the introduction, which includes the background and bring out the topic title Secondly, chapter two will give thereader a literature review, understanding briefly about the research and related topic In addition, chapter 3 is research methodology which explicates data and analyze the method that the surveycollected Furthermore, chapter 4 is about discussions, the author will give their own opinions, explain new understanding and provide solutions for problems and key factors Finally, the lastchapter is the conclusion, the end of the research where author give the conclusion and somerecommendation
Trang 8Chapter II: Literature review
2.1 Definition:
Barriers to learning are considered as the lack of access to the classroom environment and the
lesson goal The learner may be struggling with one or more types of learning barriers; therefore, the teacher should be dealing with the pupil according to their individual differences to ensure aneffective learning process Students who have a learning disability may be facing many different types of learning barriers
Students might wonder why they have to do homework every night, so I will explain whathomework is and why they have to do it Cooper (1989) defines homework as "tasks set byinstructors that are meant to be carried out during non-school hours." Plenty of study anddiscussion has gone into the issues that make it important for us to turn in the assignments Sincethis is the case, the majority of studies focus on establishing the benefits of homework whileignoring its drawbacks One of the most apparent benefits of giving out homework is the fact that
it improves students' chances of remembering and comprehending the stuff they studied that day.Students' study abilities, school attitudes, and the realization that learning may occur anywherewill all benefit indirectly from homework (Cooper 2001)
2.2 The reason why students do not do their homework in terms of
difficulties:
Why don't some students just consistently do their homework? Darling-Hammond and Lynch wrote in 2006 that "a sizeable number of students didn't really know how to do theirhomework, or at least how to do it well enough to get any satisfaction from it." I concentrated oninterviewing and surveying International bachelor’s degree classes that had trouble withassignment completion in order to identify triggers I also utilized data from classes whereassignment completion was high (to identify habits from the homework pros) This research doesbroaden not only the teenagers' awareness but also impact them It will help them to findsolutions for their problem and to ameliorate

Trang 92.3 Effects of the phenomenon:
2.3.1 Positive impacts:
I cannot say that not completing assignments at home has positive effects, but it is still beneficial
in some ways Students will spend more time with their families, helping with household choresand babysitting if the notion of accomplishing schoolwork is eliminated Students who do not dohomework often have more free time to do other personal things like play sports, learn musicalinstruments, watch movies, or even spend time learning something they find interesting
2.3.2 Negative impacts:
There were plenty of drawbacks for the matter Only 35% of pupils, according to researchersfrom Bryan in 2004, can identify the advantages of completing homework By identifying fourissues with homework assignment that need to be addressed before suggestions are provided toincrease student homework completion
According to some academic’s research, the issue is not whether or not children should havehomework The amount and kind of homework given to kids is more important The needs of thepupils must be met for homework to be productive For instance, some middle school instructorshave had success using online math assignments that are customized to each student'scomprehension level However, middle school pupils' exam results in math and sciencedecreased when they had more than an hour and a half of homework
The grades of students who completed their math and science assignments were found to behigher on standardized tests, but there was no difference in their course grades between the twogroups of students, according to Indiana University researchers According to these studies, doing homework increases students' familiarity with the kind of questions that would be asked
on standardized examinations rather than their topic knowledge One of the study's authors,Professor Adam Maltese, said that the findings "suggest that maybe homework is not beingutilized as effectively as it might be Therefore, despite the widespread endorsement of dailyhomework from instructors and parents, there is no concrete proof that the long-standing practice
is effective
Trang 10students very little or perhaps no homework, while others give them much too much Whendetermining how much and what sort of homework to assign to their students, teachers shouldwork together to get the best decision possible One approach to addressing this problem would
be for teachers to coordinate their efforts more closely and place a greater focus on the creation
of interdisciplinary assignments for students to do outside of class
Another problem is that the majority of assigned homework does not serve the educationalfunction for which it was designed Even while many assignments for students' homework aredesigned to teach key concepts, if a student does not comprehend the concept being taught inclass, the student may end up developing bad work habits instead In addition, because of timeconstraints, parents often undertake their children's schoolwork, which completely underminesthe purpose of assigning homework in the first place
The third problem is that the exercise is just too difficult in comparison to the learner'scapabilities One may argue that there is an excessive gap between the assignments that areprovided and the content that is covered in class The qualities that students develop in school arenot adequate for them to be able to tackle issues on their own As a consequence of this, studentswill get disappointed while working on the assignment as a result of their lack of competence. And last, students often lack access to the appropriate materials This one could be the leastcomplicated concern on the whole list Achieving success in school requires having access to theappropriate resources, which includes the books, tools, and instructors who can be spoken with,
as well as anything else that is required to learn anything If you are in need of book suggestions, talk to your teacher about getting some so that you won't mistakenly steer your learning in theincorrect direction You should discuss with your parents the possibility of purchasing variouspieces of equipment, such as a brand-new laptop, stationery, and other goods Talk to yourparents about it and make your case if there is a significant need to invest in new gear (such aniPad or a new laptop) You have a chance of winning them over if you can demonstrate how theproducts in question will assist you in your academic endeavors There is also the possibility ofattending a summer school in the United Kingdom
Trang 11Chapter III: Research methodology
3.1 Participants:
Participants who are young adults enrolled in higher education are qualified for the research To
be able to conduct the survey in the most thorough and complete way, I will invite eighty-fivestudents from the 18th intake of International Bachelor’s Degree The students include allfreshman students who have only recently started their academic journey Moreover, thisresearch also outlines the consequences of not doing the homework and the benefits of doing itwhich provide the impacts of both sides
3.2 Research instruments:
The Qualitative research were applied in this study It focus on the current conditions or how aperson, group or thing behaves or works right now, it was found appropriate (Calderon, et ei…1996) It sought answers to questions through the differences of the variables Moreover,Qualitative research methods are created in such a way that they can disclose a target audience’sbehavior and perception in relation to a specific topic (Adi Bhat, 2021) Through this design, it isexpected that student’s perceptions regarding the interrelationships among variables in theresearch will be influenced by their time management The researcher will analyze theinformation gathered and compare the outcomes to determine the Time Management: Balancingschool and work of the Selected College Working Student during Covid-19 Pandemic
This research study has been collected from 3 steps to find data The primary data will begathered through the participants of the study who happens to be the college students from IBDintake 18th On the other hand, the secondary data will be accumulated from different textbooks, previous studies and online resources that will support and relevant to the study Finally, theparticipants of this study will be selected college students Researchers believed that theirparticipation to the study will be a massive help to this study On a scale ranging from 1 to 5,which indicates the following degrees of agreement: strongly disagree, disagree, neutral, agree, and strongly agree, the study questions will be selected at random using this scale Thequestionnaire will be sent to the eighty-five students who are participating in the intake 18 of theinternational bachelor's degree programmed
Trang 123.2.1 Primary data:
My data will start with surveying my friends and some International Bachelor’s Degree studentsthrough a questionnaire It will be written and sent in Google Form to take part in the study muchmore manageable All the responses were anonymous Name or class were not asked in terms ofpersonal privacy Furthermore, the survey was sent online to all people joining in
3.2.2 Secondary data:
The information on this topic will be searched from the Internet such as YouTube, reliable onlinenewspapers, online books and audio news like Spotify and podcasts The students were given aquestionnaire with questions about why they do not do the assignment
3.3 Research procedure:
3.3.1 Research title:
Through the use of a survey, the purpose of qualitative research is to gain an understanding of thestudy situation of students enrolled in intake 18 of the International Bachelor's Degreeprogramme Based on the results of the survey, the researchers identify to determine the levels ofthe positive and negative influence that the process of completing assignments has on academicperspective This research used a straightforward sampling procedure, and the sample size waschosen to accommodate university students This is a typical survey sample for students pursuing
an international bachelor's degree This study will recruit around 85 individuals at random, all ofwhom are first-year students at the participating universities
3.3.2 Design instruments:
The Google Forms tool would be an excellent choice for maximizing the data for the studyobject if you were to use it when you were designing a questionnaire and survey for this researchproject Google Form is a web-based application that can be used to design and create datacollection forms You may use Google Forms to sign people up for events, perform surveys, and
do a variety of other things In spite of the fact that there are a number of online survey toolsavailable, Google Forms continues to be a fantastic solution due to the fact that it is both simple
Trang 13completely secured and kept private, thus making everyone feel secure in sharing information.Students have the ability to build a survey using Google Form based on the question format that
is provided After the author has gotten the replies, I will likely handle it using the automaticanalytics function that Google Forms provides As a result, the author decides to use GoogleForm as the platform for their online survey
3.3.3 Deliver survey:
When the form was finished, the survey will be sent to students pursuing an InternationalBachelor's Degree which are freshmen I will ask these students to respond to research questionspertaining to the topic of the study in order to collect information that I will then analyse aftereighty five new freshmen have finished the survey Social network and personal relationships areprobably the finest sources to get enough of the needed data This is because social networking is
a platform that young people care about and spend a lot of time enjoying If I were to pickwebsites and programmes, International Bachelor's Degree intake 18th I would look for ones thathave a major influence on learners in general and specific people in particular Furthermore, Iwill be adding several overseas students as friends on Facebook and Instagram, and I'll alsoprovide links to some chat groups I've started using Messenger for
3.3.4 Collect and analyze data:
After receiving eighty-five responses from participants, the author will do the analysis utilizingthe tools given by Google Sheets and Excel Google Sheets offers a number of useful features, including the ability to style sheets, import and organize data, and generate charts depending onuser input Following the completion of the data analysis and the computation of the proportionalsummary, judgements will be reached regarding the percentage of International Bachelor’sDegree students who are good sense of doing homework and understand how to use their talents
in the classroom To produce the most precise analysis possible, the author may utilize thesupport of this tool to follow the facts in an exact and logical manner
Trang 14Chapter IV: Finding and Discussions
Findings:
The responses to the questionnaire will serve as the basis for the finding’s information conducted
by 85 freshmen students from International Bachelor’s Degree, which will indicate the teenagers'level of awareness regarding to the academic difficulties to complete their homework Inaddition, the findings of this study will shed light on the factors that contribute to InternationalBachelor’s Degree freshmen struggles with assignments In the end, the most productivesolutions that were chosen by them will be presented in order to assist and solving the difficulties
of them
4.1 The survey’s reports:
Figure 1: Identify the academic barriers-The following pie chart provides an illustration of the amount of first-year international studentspursuing a Bachelor's degree who are aware of the meaning of academic hurdles
In general, the difference between the two responses accounts for thirty-seven-point five percent(37.5%) of the total percentage of yes replies
Trang 15which was around sixty-eight-point eight percent (68.8%) In the meanwhile, the remainingthirty-one-point three percent (31.3%) of the number is comprised of definitions that have beensubmitted.
