boot clamp LH as shown in the illustration

Using pliers, grasp and move the front axle inboard joint boot clamp LH as shown in the illustration to

disconnect it from the inboard joint boot

Put matchmarks on the front drive outboard joint assembly and tripod joint

5.DISCONNECT FRONT NO 2 AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH 43447F

Using pliers, grasp and move the front No 2 axle outboard joint boot clamp LH as shown in the illustration

to disconnect it from the outboard joint boot

6.DISCONNECT FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH 43447E

Remove the front axle outboard joint boot clamp LH, outboard joint boot and front No 2 axle outboard jointboot clamp LH from the front drive outboard joint assembly

Remove any old grease from the front drive outboard joint assembly

Using SST and a press, remove the front drive shaft dust cover LH from the front drive inboard joint

assembly

1.INSPECT FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

Check that there is no excessive play in the radial direction of the inboard joint and outboard joint

Check that the inboard joint boot and outboard joint boot are not stretched or contracted when the front

drive shaft assembly is at the standard length

Keep the front drive shaft assembly level during inspection

If the inboard joint boot and outboard joint boot are stretched or contracted, correct them

Install a new front drive shaft hole snap ring

NOTICE:

a.

Do not damage the spline of the inboard joint

·The front drive shaft hole snap ring should be installed completely

·

Coat the splines of the inboard joint with differential oil

·

Do not tap the end of the front drive outboard joint assembly with a hammer, etc

·

Using a brass bar and hammer, tap on the front drive outboard joint assembly until a new front axle hub

dust seal contacts the edge of the front drive outboard joint assembly

NOTICE:

Do not damage the front axle hub dust seal

·The front axle hub dust seal should be installed completely

·Make sure to install the front axle hub dust seal in the correct direction

Using SST and a press, press in a new front drive shaft dust cover until the inboard joint contacts the edge

of the inboard joint

Do not damage the front drive shaft dust cover

·The front drive shaft dust cover should be installed completely

·Make sure to install the front drive shaft dust cover in the correct direction

3.INSTALL OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT

*a Protective Tape

Before installing the outboard joint boot, wrap the splines of the front drive outboard joint assembly with

protective tape to prevent the outboard joint boot from being damaged

Install new parts to the front drive outboard joint assembly in the following order

*1 Front No 2 Axle Outboard Joint Boot Clamp

*2 Outboard Joint Boot

*3 Front Axle Outboard Joint Boot Clamp

*4 Front Drive Outboard Joint AssemblyOutboard Joint Side

Inboard Joint Side

Front No 2 axle outboard joint boot clamp

Pack the front drive outboard joint assembly and outboard joint boot with grease from the boot kit

Standard grease capacity:

4.INSTALL FRONT NO 2 AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH 43447F

Install SST to the front No 2 axle outboard joint boot clamp LH, and then while pressing the outboard jointboot, slightly tighten the SST bolt

Tighten SST so that the front No 2 axle outboard joint boot clamp LH is pinched

When tightening SST, make sure the clearance of the front No 2 axle outboard joint boot clamp

LH is within the standard clearance

5.INSTALL FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH 43447E

Install SST to the front axle outboard joint boot clamp LH, and then while pressing the outboard joint boot,slightly tighten the SST bolt

If the measured value exceeds the specified value, retighten the front axle outboard joint boot clamp LH

6.INSTALL INBOARD JOINT

Install new parts to the front drive outboard joint assembly in the following order

a.

*1 Front Axle Inboard Joint Boot Clamp

*2 Inboard Joint Boot

*3 Front No 2 Axle Inboard Joint Boot Clamp

*a Protective TapeOutboard Joint Side

Inboard Joint Side

Front axle inboard joint boot clamp

Align the matchmarks and place the beveled side of the tripod joint axial spline toward the front drive

outboard joint assembly

Using a brass bar and hammer, tap the tripod onto the outboard joint

Pack the inboard joint and inboard joint boot with grease from the boot kit

7.INSTALL INBOARD JOINT BOOT

Install the inboard joint boot to the inboard joint

Check that the inboard joint boot and outboard joint boot are not stretched or contracted when the front

drive shaft assembly is at the standard length

Length (A):

555.9 mm (1.82 ft.)

NOTICE:

Keep the front drive shaft assembly level during inspection

If the inboard joint boot and outboard joint boot are stretched or contracted, correct them

8.INSTALL FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH 43448F

Install SST to the front axle inboard joint boot clamp LH, and then while pressing the inboard joint boot,

slightly tighten the SST bolt

0.8 mm (0.0314 in.) or less

flange and transfer flange

Align the matchmarks on the propeller shaft flange and transfer flange

Torque:

88.2 N*m (899 kgf*cm, 65 ft.*lbf) e.

Install the propeller shaft guard bracket LH with the 2 bolts

36.2 N*m (369 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf) b.

allow 0 to 0.05 mm (0 to 0.00196 in.) of axial play

While the installed snap rings should have equal thickness, if the axial play is greater than 0.05 mm

(0.00196 in.), select 2 snap rings that have as close to the same thickness as possible

Do not reuse the snap rings
