A Warm up: (5’)

a) Objective: Introduce the new lesson and set the scene for Ss to acquire new language; get

students' attention at the beginning of the class by giving enjoyable and short activities as well as to engage them in the follow-up steps

b) Content: Reading information of seeing UFOs and aliens.

c) Expected outcomes: Ss have general ideas about the topic “Life on other planet”, which they

are going to read and write in the new lesson

d) Organization of the activity:

* OPTION 1: Let’s Talk!

What is happening in the picture?

Do you think there are aliens? Why (not)?

- Use the part “Let’s talk!” in the textbook– page 62 for

warm-up activity

- Ask Ss to work in pairs to answer the questions

- Divide the class into pairs

- Have Ss discuss the questions

- Elicit answers from some Ss

- Call Ss to share their answers with the whole class

- Give feedback

- Lead to the new lesson

- Work in pairs to discuss

- Present

- Share the answers

* OPTION 2:

- Have Ss watch a video about Are Aliens Real?.

a) Objective: Students can develop their reading skill.

b) Content: Practicing reading and writing on seeing UFOs and aliens.

- Read the blog post Do Andy and his brother agree about what they saw?

- Read and circle True, False, or Doesn't say.

- Speaking: What do you think Andy and his brother really saw? Why?

- Underline three sentences Andy used to describe what he saw, heard, and felt

- Reorder the narrative passage

c) Expected outcomes: Students can practice reading and understanding general and specific

information of UFOs and aliens

d) Organization of the activity:

*Pre-reading:
