as part of my high school literature curriculum, and I couldn't put it down The plotfollows the misadventures of a poor and uneducated man named Tam who rises topower through a combination of luck and manipulation The book exposes thegreed, and exploitation that were rampant in Vietnam at that time, and it made mereflect on the social and political issues that still affect our country today It wasalso interesting to read about Vietnam's history through the eyes of someone wholived during that period I still have a paperback copy of "Số đỏ" that I read fromcover to cover several times, and it remains one of my favourite books
