For the recent years, tourism is considered as a basic industry of each nation, it brings many benefits to every country Tourism is always known as “the chicken that lays golden eggs” It becomes more and more necessary for people around the world to go for a trip because it helps them improve health, enrich their knowledge, reduce stress, make up social relationship among people With tourism they can explore culture and custom of many parts all over the world Along with the develop of tourism, transportation is becoming extremely important to tourism, especially tourism in Hanoi Currently, we are very lucky to have chances to learn more about transportation in Hanoi through the course 4B In this course, we have an assignment about researching information about transportation in Hanoi, especially Hanoi – Dalat Through this assignment, we know more about the development of both transportation and tourism
in Hanoi It also helps us a lot in improving our skills like collecting information, team working and so on
4 Objectives of the study:
After finishing this assignment, we can know more about some kinds of transportation that we can use both in Hanoi and from Hanoi to Dalat The information is really useful for our future jobs as tour guides Moreover, we can also learn more about the history of some kinds of transportation, some information about how it works, its development and we can also learn about its contribution to the tourism industry The most important thing that we can learn after completing this assignment is that we know what we should and should not do while using these transportations It is really useful for both our study and our future jobs

11 Transportation available in Hanoi:
Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam, and is a big center There are many famous places, attracted millions of tourist every year When tourists come to Hanoi, they need to choose for themselves a suitable transport to visit this city Here are some popular of transports in Hanoi nowadays:
Bicycles: It seems to be the friendliest vehicle to the environment It was first introduced in the 19th century and it is the principal means of transportations in many regions Bicycles appeared very early in Hanoi, it is considered vehicles which friendly with eco-environment, and was used a lot in many countries, included Vietnam.This type of transport does not consume fuel, friendly to environment, improve health and fitness for people It is not just for travel but also for recreational activities, entertainment, sport…
Motorbikes: This is the most popular transportation in Hanoi nowadays They were invented in 1885, and are now popular used throughout the country The first motorcycle in Hanoi was branded manufacturer Herstal in Belgium and was one of the first three units into Bac Ki in 1903 Overtime, the number of motorbikes has increased because they are very convenient They do not consume gasoline and can go into narrow streets It is also very popular in student because of its convenience and friendliness
Cyclo: Cyclo is for a peaceful and friendly Hanoi It first appeared in 1939, into Vietnam
in about the 20th century Today, cyclo is used mainly in the Old Quarter, tourists can sit
in the cyclo to go around Hoan Kiem lake It is very unique, special and interesting to travel in Hanoi by cyclo Cyclo is also a kind of non-polluted vehicle in Hanoi It is really friendly to the environment
Bus: This kind of transport is very popular in Hanoi and tourists can easily see them when they come there It is the oldest kind of public transportation in Hanoi and it is used by many people every day The first known public bus line (known as a "Carriage"
at that time) was launched by Blaise Pascal in 1662 Buses are used as public transport and play a major part in the tourism industry Tours by buses around the world allow tourists to view local attractions or scenery

Plane: plane is the most modern kind of transport in Hanoi It first appeared in the early 20th century, and it makes people move more easily The aircraft is the first choice because it's fast and convenient when they have trip away
12 How to get to Dalat
There are many ways to go to Dalat People can visit Dalat by motorbike, plane, car and train
Driving a motorbike from Hanoi to Dalat is possible, but it is a long trip The total distance between Hanoi and Dalat is 1505km Therefore, travelling to Datlat by a motorbike is really interesting You can have time to enjoy the scene during the trip You can stop whenever you want to enjoy it and you do not have to depend on the timetable
as travelling in train or plane However, it may be very tired if you do not have a good health
Travel by plane is the fastest way to visit Dalat from Hanoi There are two options for tourists: fly straight from Hanoi to Dalat, daily from 2.30 pm to 6.40 pm: and fly from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, then go to Dalat by car This is the fastest way, but the most expensive Price of Vietnam airline ticket is about 1700000vnd However, when traveling by air, you cannot enjoy the scenery and you will lose the fun of the trip
Another way to get Dalat is that you can travel by car It is very convenient because you
do not have to depend on other elements Promptitude and convenience are considered the special characteristics of car It is convenient for tourists to go to Dalat by car because car can stop anywhere for you to enjoy fresh air, take photographs and relax
If you want to travel by train, you will save some money, but there is no railway from Hanoi to Dalat, you have to go to Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Thap Cham before you reach Dalat, then go to Da lat by car or bus However, tourists can have more time to see and improve knowledge in this trip Price of the ticket is much cheaper than travelling
by air about 700000vnd to 1100000vnd, and then, you just pay 180000vnd to go to Dalat by car

Almost people know that in the past Da Lat used to have a station which used to be one
of the most beautiful one in the Indochina It had a unique structure and was built as an Art-Deco style – a style that was very popular in Western at that time But hardly anyone knows that Dalat’s railway is a cog railroad, which was very unique and rare in both Vietnam and international When you come to Dalat, you will be very surprised when you see this railroad yourself
In 1903, French began to build the railway from Da Lat to Phan Rang to help French people to have chances to live in Dalat In the first day, this railway was only 84 km long The train has been travelling back and forth on seven- kilometre- railway of the primitive plateau for more than fifteen years However, while this heaven is changing vigorously, the domestic and foreign tourists simultaneously find visiting Da Lat as well
as taking a train journey for sightseeing deeply great relaxation Interestingly, it takes eight thousand dong to travel by bus within 7 km compared to eighty thousand dong by train Thus, the bus system which is run by PT firm makes not only the locals but also tourists travel easily in Da lat city
Surprisingly, the numbers of passengers enormously flock to catch the trains As the train glides, tourists are engrossed in country houses landscape left behind Those are known as unique lands with diverse gardens in which people grow broccolis, cabbages
or distinguishing vegetable such as carrots, mollies, and especially flower The train keeps on chugging steadily along the slopes, the terraced paddy fields, the sleep hills, and wooden houses that lighten up in the valleys It looks as if a live show on the window Tourists are fascinated and take camera whatever they see
Travelling by a train equipped with an ancient steam engine creates a glorious feeling in passengers’ hearts After 20 minutes, the train stops at Trai Mat station, where possesses two beautiful destinations: Trai Mat market and Linh Phuoc pagoda The former sells seasonal plants and the notable thing is that there will be fully ripe cherries and raspberries sold in cold season Also, people will have a chance of tasting fresh

Dalat is the capital of Lamdong province in Viet Nam The city is located 1500m above sea level and is a popular tourist destination Dalat is famous for pine wood with twisting roads and tree marigold blossom in the winter
Dalat is as for a little Paris – dreamlike and poetic because of the cold atmosphere in night, fog in the morning and pine forests surrounded The weather is very cool; the average temperature is 20C, and sunny all over the time here Thanks to this weather, Dalat is the big garden with so many flowers Tourists are attracted by hundreds of beautiful flowers in Dalat Since 2005, Dalat has held “flowers festival” yearly, which introduce local flowers for tourists from many parts of the country and the world
Dalat city is the over 100 years old, and it is the one of the most attractive destinations for tourist The landscape of the city, scattered in the central area and suburbs, such as Xuan Huong Lake, Cu hill, valley of love, Than Tho Lake has long been famous History has left Dalat many buildings are worth, like offices, schools, churches, temples, public buildings with thousands of beautiful villas presence throughout the city
You can go to Xuan Huong Lake – a place in among of city center and Cu Hill – on beside Xuan Huong Lake People consider that Dalat will be less beautiful without Cu Hill and Xuan Huong Lake Another famous place that you cannot skip is Love Valley Love Valley is one of the most famous attractions in Dalat It is beautiful because of deep valley and pine hill Passengers can go along paths or climbing hundreds of stairs, through colorful flower gate to Vongcanh Hill From here, Love Valley appears in vision beautifully like a lively picture
Cool climate, natural resources and abundant human help each year the city attracts millions of tourists to visit and vacation
15 History of Vietnamese railways:
Trang 8It is 181 years since the first rail way was built in Vietnam In 1881, the first railway from Saigon to Mytho was built 4 years later, the first train departed from Saigon to Mytho on 20 July 1885
In the state between 1882 and 1936, a lot of main railway was built due to the French design During the war time, Vietnamese railways were heavily damaged After the unify
of the North and the South in 1975, Vietnamese railways seemed to recover very fast And after the Open policy in 1986, Vietnamese railway was recovered and modernized especially the North – South railway as they saw that railway had played an important role in the development of the domestic economy
At that time, there were 15 main railway lines in Vietnam:

1954 -1964
In 10 years, from 1954 to 1964, the railway systems in the North was rebuilt and recovered with some main lines such as: Hanoi – Laocai, Hanoi – Haiphong, Hanoi –
Trang 9Langson… these lines played an important role in serving the people’s demand of travelling at that time as well as contributed a lot in recovering the North economy At that time, another railway line was also built with 164km – Hanoi – Thainguyen
1964 -1975:
At that time, the Northern railways were the main ways that helped the North for the liberation of the South to fight against the US force The two features of sector in this period are for the course of consolidation and economic development of northern, support for the war against US force in Southern battlefields During this period, the railways have received a significant investment of the government and the assistance of international friends, especially the help of the Soviet Union and China
The outstanding event at this state was to maintain air transport carrying troops and aid routes from north to Vinh in the calling up of Ho Chi Minh president “All for beloved South” Under the leadership of the Labor Party of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh, Northern railways have formed the glorious miracle, contributing significantly to the nation’s victory in the war against US force
The railways ensured continuously communication throughout the war It had 3915 meters temporary bridges, 82 km of roads and 274.5 km of wire and shipping information They could transport 4.16 million tons of goods Officers, employees and residents have shot dozens of US air crafts at many sizes, detected and broke thousands bombs in the southern battleground The head of the Northern railways at this state was General Director, Ha Dang An, who made the railways become very famous with a lot of victories and these victories then became the tradition of Vietnamese railways
1975 – 1985:
In this state, Vietnamese railway became to develop faster No matter how long the war destroyed, it seemed to recover and develop very fast At this time, the official organization of Vietnamese railway was founded and there were many companies under their control It was also the time when the North – South Reunification Railway was inaugurated and on 13 December 1976, the first train from Saigon to Hanoi departed It showed the bright future of Vietnam after long wars
1985 – Now:
Trang 10Nowadays, Vietnamese railways have changed a lot There are more modern trains with high qualified and equipped with modern technology Railways are now becoming the top transport of our transportation systems
16 Development of train:
From Hanoi to Dalat, if you want to travel by train, there are four main trains for you to choose: SE1, SE5, SE7 and TN1
SE1: Fast train from Hanoi to Saigon
SE5: Slow train from Hanoi to Saigon
SE7: Fast train from Hanoi to Saigon
TN1: The slowest train from Hanoi to Saigon
In each train, there are a lot of different kinds of services like eating, cooling, moving, etc… Each service depends on tourists’ payment and demand Different level of payment has different kinds of services
There are many choices for tourists who want to visit Dalat by train and the fastest way
is from Hanoi to Thap Cham(Ninh Thuan) and then take an open bus to Dalat Here are the table of price and choices for tourists:
