Trang 53The Team Together Assessment Package includes a
complete set of tests for Team Together Level 2 All
of the tests are in photocopiable format with audio
supplied as MP3s.
Assessment of learning (summative) and
assessment for learning (formative)
Team Together offers a variety of tests which
enable the teacher to monitor students’ progress
The assessment material has been designed
with the aim of supporting student learning and
identifying areas for improvement.
Any test can be used either as an
assessment-of-learning or as an assessment-for-learning
tool Assessment of learning usually takes place
after the learning has happened and provides
information about what students have achieved
by giving a mark However, you can also use the
same tests as an assessment-for-learning tool
by providing feedback on students’ strengths and
weaknesses, and giving them suggestions for
improvement
Versions of tests
All the tests, apart from the Placement Test and
the Pre A1 Starters Preparation Test, are available
in two versions:
A and B Version A offers the test at the standard
level, while version B is at a slightly higher level
However, both versions of the test contain tasks
that are of a similar or the same type and you can
administer both versions of the test simultaneously
in the same session
To enable the administration of both tests during
the same session, the audio is the same for
versions A and B Please note that the rubrics in
the listening tasks are not recorded.
Types of tests
This Assessment Package contains one Placement
Test, nine Unit Tests, three End-of-term Tests,
one End-of-year Test and one Pre A1 Starters
Preparation Test.
The Placement Test can be used as a diagnostic
test at the start of the year, to review learning from
the previous year and to help assess students’
ability.
If students score 60 percent or higher, we suggest they start with Level 2 If they score lower than
60 percent, we suggest they start with Level 1, or
if this isn’t possible, some remedial work may be required to help them
The Unit Tests can be used at the end of each unit,
to monitor students’ progress through the course,
to give students feedback on their achievement and to identify areas requiring reinforcement.
The End-of-term and End-of-year Tests can be
used as informative and evaluative tests, for reporting purposes
The Pre A1 Starters Preparation Test can be used
to help prepare students for this external exam or for general test-taking practice.
Test format
In each test, the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking are tested through self- explanatory activities that students will be familiar with from their work in class.
Each activity has its own score, with a consolidated score for each page and a total score for each test
For speaking activities, marks have been allocated according to students’ overall performance Please refer to the guidance in the Speaking notes for more details Students should be allowed to make more than one attempt, and you should encourage them to self-correct.
Procedure on the day of assessment
• Copy the test for students, and instruct them
to write their name and class at the top of the page.
• Even though the format of each task should be familiar to students, ensure they know what they are expected to do.
• Students will need colouring pens or pencils for some of the activities.
• Set students a time limit within which to complete the test.
• During the administration of the listening tasks, you may wish to pause the audio to allow students to complete each task.
• When handing tests back to students, go through the answers and explain any errors.
