The author have analysed the pathology of rotator cuff tear and the concomitants lesions such as long head biceps lesion, superior labrum anterior to posterior lesion (SLAP) on magnetic resonance imaging and on arthroscopic image with numerous patients By analyzing the pathology of rotator cuff tear and the concomitant lesions on 119 patients who had MRI and were treated by the arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, the author found that:
+ there are 32 SLAP lesions, 3 long head biceps tendon lesions on 119 patients who had MRI and were operated
+ 77 partial thickness rotator cuff tear, 67 full thickness rotator cuff tear ( 1 small tear, 49 medium tears, 3 large tears) were found on the shoulder arthroscopy
This is a perspective research with 144 patients with rotator cuff tear who treated by arthroscopic repair and followed up mid term and long term This is the first research on the arthroscopic rotator cuff suture in Viet Nam with a large number of patients The dissertation have had the contribution to indication of surgery, the suture technique, and rehabilitation in treating rotator cuff tear, a new field that was not studied in Viet Nam
