Practice is a process of applying knowledge that is accumulated fromstudying in a school in real life as well as in work If I choose a suitablepractice place, I will gain a lot of necessary experience in the future

The internship is a great opportunity for me to observe the real workenvironment and learn behavioral culture as well as create a workingrelationship It is also a chance for me to learn knowledge about my careerfield and an important turning point to orient my future job

Agriculture is a key factor of An Giang It has been growing strongly inrecent years However, the change of weather and climate negatively affectsthe agricultural development of the locality To the above situation, thelocality has applied clean production models and high-tech with cooperationand support from a lot of countries Interpreters and translators in agriculturalfield will become attractive jobs, so I wish to become a translator in this sector

to help the provincial agriculture I spent 8 weeks at the An Giang Department

of Agricultural and Rural Development with support from An GiangUniversity and the Faculty of Foreign Languages

This report concerns the internship of the Bachelor’s Degree Program

of the English Language It took place at An Giang Department of Agricultureand Rural Development from February 22nd to April 18th This report isdivided into three parts in which I try to explain my whole experience ofworking at the department within the internship period The first part of thisreport is an overview of DARD, which includes background information,operating hours, function and organization The second part describes myinternship process, detailed tasks and my experience Finally, I gave thesummary of the internship and some recommendations to contribute to moresuccessful internships for the internship agency, An Giang University, Faculty

of Foreign Languages and English majors

OVERVIEW OF THE INTERNSHIP AGENCY

AN GIANG DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND RURAL

The DARD of An Giang Province is a specialized agency of thePeople's Committee of An Giang Province and performs the function ofadvising and assisting the People’s Committee of An Giang Province instate management on the fields of agriculture and rural development in

III POSITION AND FUNCTIONS

The Decision No 28/2016 / QD - UBND dated 8/6/2016 of the People'sCommittee of An Giang Province issued regulations on functions, tasks,authorities, and organizations of the An Giang DARD DARD is aspecialized agency of the People's Committee of An Giang Province andhas the operation of advising and aiding the An Giang People's Committee

in state management within the fields of agriculture, aquaculture,irrigation, rural water system and sanitation, and rural development; floodand storm prevention; safety of agricultural, fishery and fisherymerchandise from the production process to the market; public services inagriculture and rural development; and implementation of tasks and powersunder the authority of the An Giang People's Committee

DARD has legal status, own seal, and account under the directionand management in organization, personnel, and operation of the An GiangPeople's Committee; and under the direction, inspection, and professionalguidance of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

I DETAILED TASKS

My 8-week internship in the Technology, Science and EnvironmentEngineering Division of An Giang was a great experience, it helpedimprove my translation skills and adapt to the daily office working

1 Translating and Interpreting.

Translating and interpreting are two essential skills of a linguist,

so my supervisor Ms Nguyen Minh Trang asked us to translate a lot ofdocuments in many different forms Below is a list of translations andexecution time

Collecting information is extremely important It helps mebriefly summarize a project or program that I know to present to myboss or colleague and it is very useful for my future job

Presentation is one of a student’s most essential skills Duringthis internship I improve my public speaking skill as well as improvedpronunciation with many reports as listed below:

II ASSESSMENT

1 Advantages.

Firstly, An Giang DARD is located in Long Xuyen, so it is veryconvenient for my transportation Secondly, Ms Trang (supervisor),

colleagues and teachers enthusiastically helped me during myinternship I not only learned more about my major in English but alsolearned a lot of life experiences as well as problem-solving skills It will

be an important part to help me in the future

2 Disadvantages.

Besides those advantages, I also encountered many difficultiesduring my practice With basic knowledge of English, I do not haveenough knowledge to complete the translation text in agriculture andneed Ms Nguyen Minh Trang to guide us with specialized vocabulary.Besides, during the reporting process, mispronouncing is time-consuming and because of the lack of practical experience is doing a lot

of work could not be completed on time Thankfully, she understoodand sympathized to give us more time

3 Experience.

The eight weeks of my internship was a great opportunity for me togain more experience I realized that if I wanted to become aninterpreter in the future, in addition to my basic knowledge of English, Ineed to learn a lot about a major in which I would be working Besides,

I need to improve my pronunciation and use vocabulary accordingly ineach situation In addition to my knowledge, soft skills such ascommunication, problem-solving, working attitude are also veryimportant in my future

In short, the internship at An Giang DARD is a good opportunityfor me to gain more knowledge and experience Practicing gives me alot of motivation to practice in work environment So I can find out mystrengths and weaknesses to continue working on my strengths and findways to overcome weaknesses I believe this internship is also animportant part of my resume when I apply for a job in the future

II SUGGESTIONS

1 For the Internship Agency

The An Giang DARD created the best conditions for the internship.However, English language students do not have much knowledge ofagriculture as well as knowledge of writing plans or proposing projects

So, before students can do their jobs, the internship agencies can guide

or give them examples to do the job well

2 For An Giang University and Faculty of Foreign Languages.

In order to have better and effective future internships, An GiangUniversity and the Faculty of Foreign Languages should let studentsknow more about the internship site, what they have to do when theycome to the internship agency This helps students to be more stable inpsychology as well as equipping them with basic knowledge in the fieldthey are intern In addition, it is advisable to help students orient theirfuture work to find a suitable internship to help the internship be mosteffective
