A LÝ THUYẾT
1 Đại từ sở hữu là gì?
Đại từ sở hữu dùng để chỉ sự sở hữu và quan trọng nhất đó là nó thay thế cho một danh từ, cụm danh từ đã được nhắc đến trước đó nhằm tránh lặp từ
2 Sự khác biệt giữa đại từ sở hữu và tính từ sở hữu
Tính từ sở hữu (possessive adjective) cũng để chỉ sự sở hữu, tuy nhiên, chúng luôn được theo sau bởi một danh từ, trong khi đó đại từ sở hữu (possessive pronoun) thay thế hẳn cho danh từ đó
Xét 2 ví dụ sau:
a This is my book – Đây là quyển sách của tôi.
Trong câu sử dụng tính từ sở hữu “my” vì vậy theo sau phải là danh từ
“book”
b This book is mine – Quyển sách này là của tôi.
Ta có thể viết câu này thành “This book is my book.”, tuy nhiên đại từ sở
hữu “mine” đã thay thế cho “my book” trong câu trên.
3 Các đại từ sở hữu và nghĩa của chúng
mine của tôi Ví dụ: Your book is not as interesting as mine ours của chúng ta Ví dụ: This house is ours.
yours của bạn Ví dụ: I will give you mine and you give me yours.
his của anh ta Ví dụ: How can he eat my food not his?
her của cô ấy Ví dụ: I can’t find my stapler so I use hers.
theirs của họ Ví dụ: If you don’t have a car, you can borrow
theirs
its của nó Ví dụ: The team is proud of its ability to perform.
4 Cách dùng các đại từ sở hữu
a Dùng thay cho một tính từ sở hữu (possessive adjective) và một danh
từ đã nói phía trước.
Ví dụ:
I gave it to my friends and to yours (= your friends) – Tôi đưa nó cho bạn của tôi và bạn của bạn

của tôi màu xanh
b Dùng trong dạng câu sở hữu kép (double possessive).
Ví dụ:
He is a friend of mine – Anh ta là một người bạn của tôi.
It was no fault of yours that we mistook the way – Chúng tôi lầm đường đâu
có phải là lỗi của anh
c Dùng ở cuối các lá thư như một quy ước Trường hợp này người ta chỉ dùng ngôi thứ hai.
Ví dụ: Để kết thúc một bức thư, ta viết
