6.2 Specific requirements on tolerances for socket and pin threaded area
The standard does not provide a complete set of tolerances for socket and pin threaded areas Manufacturers must customize their socket and pin dimensions, considering the thermal properties of the pin and electrode materials, along with the operating conditions of the arc furnace It is essential to ensure the mechanical integrity of the joint is maintained at low temperatures.

To ensure compatibility among suppliers, the following requirements must be met: a) At each position along the axis of the fitting, the size of the fitting must be less than or equal to the dimensions specified in Table 3 and Table 4, as illustrated.

When raising the electrode from horizontal to vertical position, leave the pin protection in place or alternatively place a cushioning material underneath the pin to prevent damage to the threads
Clean the socket and end faces of the old column as well as of the new electrode with air
In the case where some dirt should be removed manually, use a soft brush against the threads
