Methodological Research Framework
Figure 1-4 provides a broad overview of the methodological framework for this research This framework composes of a selection of research methods with cross-interdisciplinary approaches and integration of disciplines, models, and theories from various perspectives This research framework would enable the analysis of the inter-linkages among energy-food-water security and their impacts on different socio-economic and environment aspects (as discussed in Chapter 3) Some specific methods applied in analysing various research objectives are: historical analysis, input-output analysis, scenario analyses, policy analyses This section provides a brief overview of each method; Chapter 4 provides a more detailed discussion
Historical analysis
A historical analysis is undertaken to achieve the first specific objective of this research,
which is to analyse the evolution of the energy, water, and food nexus in Vietnam The
historical analysis is useful in reviewing and interpreting sources, and discovering evidence and data to reflect the evolution of a particular development This research focuses on analysing the factors that have influenced the emergence of the energy-water-food security nexus in Vietnam, as this will contribute to a better understanding of the nature of energy, water and food security; policy constraints and their impacts on current energy, food and water management; and the country’s general strategy over time This method is used to describe a timeline of trends for Vietnam’s energy-water-food nexus, which covers the following six main periods:
