Trang 5INTRODUCTION
This part of IEC 60455 is one of a series which deals with specifications for resin based
reactive compounds used for electrical insulation
The series consists of three parts:
• Part 1: Definitions and general requirements (IEC 60455-1)
• Part 2: Methods of test (IEC 60455-2)
• Part 3: Specifications for individual materials (IEC 60455-3)
IEC 60455-3-2 is one of the specification sheets comprising Part 3, as follows:
Sheet 2: Quartz filled epoxy resinous compounds

FOR ELECTRICAL INSULATION – Part 3: Specifications for individual materials – Sheet 2: Quartz filled epoxy resinous compounds
1 Scope
This part of IEC 60455 contains the requirements for quartz filled epoxy resinous compounds in
the cured form for types EP-F-1 to EP-F-7 Other materials than quartz may be introduced
later
2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document For
dated references, only the edition cited applies For undated references, the latest edition of
the referenced document (including any amendments) applies

Methods of test
3 Requirements
The requirements for quartz filled epoxy resinous compounds in the cured form are given in
Table 2 If not otherwise specified, the requirements are for (23 ± 2) °C
NOTE 1 Materials with fillers different from quartz may be added as additional tables
Quartz filled epoxy resinous compounds purporting to comply with this standard shall contain
between 45 % and 65 % by mass of quartz filler
NOTE 2 Materials for use in lower or higher temperature conditions may require additional tests to establish their
suitability
4 Special requirements
When any of the following special properties are prescribed in the purchase contract, the
method of test given below shall be used
