Transmitted signal ranges

For the ranges used to determine the validity of a transmitted signal, see Table 3

For the ranges used to denote the state of a discrete parameter, see Table 4

For the ranges used to denote the state of a control mode command, see Table 5

The error indicator range allows a module to promptly signal that valid parameter data is unavailable due to a malfunction in the sensor, sub-system, or module.

The values in the "not available" range allow a module to send messages indicating parameters that are either unavailable or unsupported Meanwhile, the values in the "not requested" range enable a device to issue command messages, specifying parameters for which no response is anticipated from the receiving device.

In the event of a component failure that hinders the transmission of valid parameter data, the designated error indicator from Tables 3 and 4 must be utilized However, if the measured or calculated data produce a value that exceeds the specified parameter range, the error indicator should not be employed Instead, the data should be transmitted using the relevant minimum or maximum parameter value.

When transmitting a specified parameter according to ISO 16844, padding bits must be added to ensure the length is a whole number of bytes if it is not already This is achieved by setting the most significant bits to zero For example, the parameter Driver1WorkingStates, RDI F903 with a 3-bit length of 010 is transmitted as one byte with a value of 02 in hexadecimal.

 Measured data convey the current value of a parameter as measured or observed by the transmitting node to determine the condition of the specified parameter.

Real time speed pulses

The RealTimeSpeedPulses parameter enables the simulation or monitoring of frequency values from the motion sensor This motion sensor signal can be substituted using the InputOutputControlByIdentifier service, with the recordIdentifier set to RealTimeSpeedPulses (F940H) and the InputOutputControlParameter set to ShortTermAdjustment The speed derived from this replacement value can be accessed either on the display or through the readDataByIdentifier service, with the recordIdentifier set to TachographVehicleSpeed (F902H).

The simulated value shall not influence recorded data If the tachograph detects sensor speed during this test, the test will be automatically aborted

This parameter shall provide data length: 2 bytes resolution: 0,1 pulses/s per bit gain, 0 offset operating range: 0 to 6425,5 pulses/s type: measured

CalibrationInputOutput

The CalibrationInputOutput parameter enables the management of the test and calibration pin functions for the recording unit's front connector through the InputOutputControlByIdentifier service The current configuration can be accessed using the ReadDataByIdentifier service.

The test and calibration pin is utilized to input a replacement signal for the motion sensor, designated as the test signal, with the calibrationInputOutput parameter configured to "enable as speedSignalInput." Alternatively, the motion sensor signal can be substituted using the service InputOutputControlByIdentifier, where the recordIdentifier is set to RealTimeSpeedPulses (F940H) and the InputOutputControlParameter is defined as ShortTermAdjustment (refer to section 5.2.63).

The test and calibration pin is utilized to measure the motion sensor signal, with the calibrationInputOutput parameter configured to enable realTimeSpeedSignalOutputSensor Alternatively, the motion sensor value can be accessed through the service readDataByIdentifier, using the recordIdentifier set to RealTimeSpeedPulses.

The test and calibration pin shall be used to measure the UTC clock signal with the calibrationInputOutput parameter set to “enable as RTCOutput”

This parameter shall provide data length: 1 byte resolution: … operating range: 0 to 3 type: N/A

The possible values for the controlState parameter/dataRecord shall be in accordance with Table 7

Table 7 — Possible controlState/dataRecord values for calibrationInputOutput

Disable 0 I/O line is disabled (default state)

Synchronization jump width

The SynchronizationJumpWidth parameter must be adjusted through diagnosis, based on the manufacturer's discretion, to accommodate various CAN network topologies It features a data length of 1 byte, a resolution of 1 Tq, and a data range from 1 to 4 Tq, classified as a measured type.

The default value shall be according to ISO 16844-4.

Sample point

The SamplePoint parameter defines the specific time at which the bus level is read, determining the value of the corresponding bit This parameter is set through end-of-line programming and features a data length of 1 byte, a recommended resolution of 0.4% per bit gain, and a data range from 60% to 100%, categorized as measured data.

For RDI and access, the resolution shall be adjusted according to the hardware

The default value shall be 87,5 %.

Time out message error delay

The parameter TimeOutMessageErrorDelay shall contain the number of emission cycles of the specified message before time out failure is declared

If the parameter is set to 3.5 and a message is transmitted every 20 milliseconds, a timeout failure will occur if the message is delayed for more than 70 milliseconds, calculated as 3.5 times 20 milliseconds.

This value shall be specified by the vehicle manufacturer The parameter shall provide data length: 1 byte resolution: 0,5/bit gain, 0 offset data range: 0 to 125 type: status

The default value shall be 3.

Error management initialisation inhibition

The parameter ErrorManagementInitialisationInhibition shall specify the inhibition period of the CAN network error management system at the key switch on event

To accommodate the varying reset timings of ECUs on the CAN network, network error management will be temporarily disabled The duration of this inhibition will be determined at the manufacturer's discretion.

The parameter shall provide data length: 1 byte resolution: 0,1 s/bit gain, 0 s offset data range: 0 to 25,0 s type: status

The default value shall be 2 s.
