1.1 Tenses

Usage

Chúng ta sử dụng thì

hiện tại đơn để chỉ:

- sự thật hiển nhiên

- sự việc xảy ra thường

xuyên ở hiện tại

- thời gian biểu hoặc lịch

trình

- Diễn tả hành động đang diễn ra và kéo dài trong hiện tại

- Dùng để đề nghị, cảnh báo, mệnh lệnh

- Dùng để diễn tả một hành động sắp xảy ra trong tương lai theo kế hoạch đã định trước

- Diễn tả sự không hài lòng hoặc phàn nàn về việc gì đó khi trong câu có

“always”

Note: Không dùng thì hiện tại tiếp diễn với các động từ chỉ tri giác, nhận thức như : to be, see,

- Diễn tả một hành động, sự việc đã diễn

ra tại một thời điểm cụ thể, hoặc một khoảng thời gian trong quá khứ và đã kết thúc hoàn toàn ở quá khứ

- Diễn tả một hành động lặp đi lặp lại trong quá khứ

- Diễn đạt các hành động xảy ra liên tiếp trong quá khứ

- Diễn tả một hành động xen vào một hành động đang diễn

ra trong quá khứ (Lưu ý: Hành động đang diễn ra chia thì quá khứ tiếp diễn, hành

- Diễn tả một hành động đang xảy ra tại một thời điểm trong quá khứ

- Diễn tả những hành động xảy ra đồng thời trong quá khứ

- Diễn tả hành động đang xảy ra thì có hành động khác xen vào

- Diễn tả một hành động từng lặp đi lặp lại trong quá khứ và làm phiền đến người khác

1.2 Possessive adjectives and pronouns

- Tính từ sở hữu là từ đứng trước danh từ để cho biết rằng danh từ đó thuộc sở hữu của ai đó

- Đại từ sở hữu dùng để thay thế cho tính từ sở hữu và danh từ khi không muốn lặp lại danh từ hoặc dùng

để chỉ vật gì thuộc về ai đó

- Câu khẳng định: S số ít + was + ; S số nhiều + were +

- Câu phủ định: S số ít + wasn't + ; S số nhiều + weren't +

- There was + danh từ số ít +

- There were + danh từ số nhiều +

- There is + danh từ số ít

- There are + danh từ số nhiều

1.3 Structure with Have got

Thể khẳng định:

I, You, We, They + have got (viết tắt ‘ve got)…

He, She, It + has got (viết tắt ‘s got)…

Thể phủ định:

I, You, We, They + have not got (viết tắt haven’t got)…

He, She, It + has not got (viết tắt hasn’t got)…

Thể nghi vấn:

Have + I, you, we, they + got … ?

Has + he, she, it + got ?

1.4 Articles

1.4.1 Indefinite article (mạo từ không xác định): A/An

- A, an: đề cập đến một đối tượng chung hoặc chưa được xác định rõ Đối tượng lần đầu được nhắc tới

- A đứng trước một phụ âm hoặc một nguyên âm có âm là phụ âm

- An đứng trước một nguyên âm hoặc một phụ âm câm

- An cũng đứng trước các mẫu tự đặc biệt đọc như một nguyên âm

Cách dùng

- Trước một danh từ số ít đếm được

- Trong các thành ngữ chỉ số lượng nhất định

Không dùng mạo từ bất định(a / an) trong các trường hợp sau:

- Trước danh từ số nhiều

- Trước danh từ không đếm được

- Trước tên gọi các bữa ăn, trừ phi có tính từ đứng trước các tên gọi đó

1.4.2 Definite Article (Mạo từ xác định) – THE

- Dùng "the" khi danh từ chỉ đối tượng được cả người nói lẫn người nghe biết rõ đối tượng nào đó (được nhắc lại) , dùng cho cả danh từ đếm được (số ít lẫn số nhiều) và danh từ không đếm được

Cách dùng:

- Khi vật thể hay nhóm vật thể là duy nhất hoặc được xem là duy nhất

- Trước một danh từ, với điều kiện danh từ này vừa mới được đề cập trước đó

- Trước một danh từ, với điều kiện danh từ này được xác định bằng một cụm từ hoặc một mệnh đề

- Trước so sánh cực cấp, Trước first (thứ nhất), second (thứ nhì), only (duy nhất) khi các từ này được dùng như tính từ hay đại từ

- The + Tính từ (tượng trưng cho một nhóm người)

- The dùng trước những danh từ riêng chỉ biển, sông, quần đảo, dãy núi, tên gọi số nhiều của các nước, sa mạc, miền

- The + họ (ở số nhiều) nghĩa là Gia đình

Không dùng mạo từ xác định – THE khi

- Trước tên quốc gia, tên châu lục, tên núi, tên hồ, tên đường ( trừ US, UK, Philipines)

- Sau sở hữu tính từ (possessive adjective) hoặc sau danh từ ở sở hữu cách (possessive case)

- Trước tên gọi các bữa ăn

- Go to bed/ hospital/ church/ school/ work/ prison (Đi ngủ/ đi nằm bệnh viện/ đi lễ/ đi học/ đi làm/ đi tù)
