As an English stundent majrored in translation & ineterpretation, it is important to me

to leverage translation interships to get hands-on experience in the industy That why I’ve taken this opportunity to spend my internship period at SUNDAY CONSULTANCY AND TRANSLATION CO., LTD

The present report is the outcome of the Internship Program organized at SUNDAY CONSULTANCY AND TRANSLATION CO., LTD to fullfill the requirements of Bachelor Program of Faculty of Foreign Languages of Nha Trang University The objective of the internship program was to familiarize the student with the implementation of the knowledge I learned on the campus The practical knowledge is far different from the bookish knowledge that a student achieves in an institution

In this report I will describe my experiences during my internship period The internship report contains an overview of the internship company and activities, tasks and projects that I have worked on during my internship Writing this report, I also will describe and relfect my learning objects and personal goals that I have set during my internship period

In compiling this report, I have intended to provide a synthesis of theoretical approaches and methods of implementing them in the world of translation I have tried to discover the relationship between theoretical and practical type of knowledge Additionally, I have also tried to bridge the gap between theoretical assumptions and practical necessities During the entire course of our academic study we remain engaged in theoretical learning where the primary objectibe is academic success A concise knowledge of the transaltion arena can only attained through the pragmatic implementation of hypothetical ideas, which we learn from our academic ideas

With these objectives, I have mad all possible effort to submit this paper in an enligntened form in a very short time I have tried my level best to eliminate errors from the limitations The report first shall give an overview of the tasks completed during the period of internship Then the results obtained shall be discussed

The internship opportunity I had with SUNDAY CONSULTANCY AND TRANSLATION CO., LTD was a great chance for learning and professional development Therefore, I consider myself as a very lucky individual as I was provided with an opportunity to be a part of it I am also grateful for having a chance to meet so many wonderful people and professionals who led me though this internship period

CHAPTER 1 - INTRODUCTION 1.1 Background

Intership program has become the birdge fot those who want to enter to corporate level from the college life Through internship I got to know the real working enviroment that was very much different from my study Thus, the internship duration provided me with the opportunity to broaden my knowledge, acknowledge mystrengths/weakness that would be more helpful to shape up my career in the future

1.2 Objective of Internship

As a part of the requirements of the Eng Language program of Nha Trang University, I was luckily assigned to SUNDAY CONSULTANCY AND TRANSLATION CO., LTD for two months intership program The primary objective of the intership is to generate

a thorought understanding of the workplace relationship, performing of the activities as well as duties and engaging oneself in the working environment In a way, it was more

to get practical implication of the studies, theories that I had acquired so far This would help me to pave a way towards growth in my academic as well as personal development Apart form general objectives, the specific objectives are highlighted below:

• To acquire exposure in the working environment resulting in the development of practical knowledge, confidence and diplomacy

• To learn and apply theoretical knowledge practically in the workplace

• To develop interpersonal, managerial and communication skills

• To come up with the possible translation stradegies to gain competitive advantage

• To be a valuable asset for the organization by contributing positive aspects

• To fullfill the partial requirements of Enghlish Language major- Translation & Interpretation minor of Nha Trang University

This report is a detailed overview of my 2-month (14th December, 2020 -1st January 2021) internship journey at SUNDAY CONSULTANCY AND TRANSLATION CO.,LTD During my Internship I have learned a lot about translation and its different applications I have known about the operation of the company with the funcions of sales and translation department I have learned to work in a corporate space which not only enriched me professionally but also helped me grow personally as well

My contribution was appreciated by my supervisor and other members of the department The career path I would be selecting for myself is quite influenced from my internship as I have had a great opportunity to practically see how translating sector is working and evolving in Nha Trang However, this report has been written in a short time I have tried my level best to make it meaningful by reflecting my works at the SUNDAY CONSULTANCY AND TRANSLATION CO., LTD On top of that, I have summarized my overall experience, with my learning and challenges faced as an intern

2.4 Advantages and Challenges

• Advantage:

- Creating relationships with other partners thanks to having cooperated with major partners in the whole province

- Diversified services, fully meeting customers' needs

- Staff has many years of experience, knowledge in many fields

• Reading material and researching industry-specific terminology

• Converting text and audio recordings in one language to one or more others

• Ensuring translated texts conveys original meaning and tone

• Cross-reference specialized dictionaries and translation tools to check quality of translation

• Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy

• Follow up with internal team members and clients to ensure translation meets their needs

• Edit content with an eye toward maintaining its original format (e.g font and structure)

• Network with field experts to stay current on new translation tools and practices

3.2 Translation Documents

The translation department of SUNDAY CONSULTANCY AND TRANSLATION CO., LTD is in charge of translating the following kinds of documents both from VietNamese into English and vice versa

3.3 Advantages & Disadvantages

3.3.1 Advantages

First and foremost, the first advantage I want to mention is about the work environment This a consultancy and translation company so it gives a huge opportunity to work with many intersting new type of documents that I’ve never got to access with

Secondly, in term of internship arena, this is just a perfect company that I want to apply for the internship since it domains in translation, interpretation and also notarization

Thirdly, it is a great pleasure for me to be able to work in the translation department where I could work with many hig qualified staff They are very professional, hardworking and always working with priciseness I am really happy and greatful for being guided and supported by them Besides, it is not far from my dormitory to the intership workplace, so it is also a good thing

Furthermore, most of the time working at the company, I was mainly doing the job of a translator, so I definitely have more time to compile my intership report that requires much of translation as well as pave in depth with translation techniques and help me to

be able to translate familar type of legal documents faster without consuming much time

on searching for the right equivalences

3.3.2 Disadvantages

Apart from those pleasing advantages, some disadvantages still may endure

On top of the list is struggles of searching and rendering the most concise translation Apparently, I am a green horn compared with all the experienced transaltors in the company I find it hard to produce to right translation with the right style for different documents So it results in taking long time to search the equivalence as well as the field

that I was working on But it is an quite interesting and stressful process since I could have a chance to learn about some more new things but had to make sure I submit the translation on time as the deadline has been assigned

There is also a minor drawback that I quite feel pity about that everybody rarely talk or communicate delightly in the office during working time since the pressure of the work

is so high and it requires intense concentration I can feel it obviously and understand it But i truely hope that the mood in the office could be more relieve and cheerful

3.4 Experience Learned

Even though I only have 8 weeks for my internship, I couldn’t be more thankful for that

I have learnt so much from my devoted and caring supervisors that we consider each others as sisters Their professional and career ideal have really leave a positive impact

on me I was truely inspired more and able to be more deeply aware of the profession

I have learned to chose the right translation techniques and style for different documents Working in this environment has trained me the strength to work under pressure as well

as highly required knowledge of wide range of fields physically and mentally Moreover, it is an great place for me to perfect my computer skills espcially in formating documents in Words Since I worked most of the time with texts and documents, I had realized how essential it is to produce a nice, clean and professional documents without formating or spelling errors

But to me, the most valueable lesson- the sweetest fruit that I have gained from this intership is patience and progressive attitude Be patience to listen, be willing to learn and not afraid to make mistakes If you do, face it and fix it, make it better Those mistakes and little failures during my internship will layer my very first brick on the way to success for me in the future I deeply appreciate for all the experiences at SUNDAY CONSULTANCY AND TRANSLATION CO., LTD

3.5 Recommendations For The Company

Before delving into the recommendations, I would like to express my most appreciation for SUNDAY CONSULTANCY AND TRANSLATION CO., LTD and especially the Translation Department for guiding and supported me for the past 2 months of intership

Due to the weakness that I have mentioned above, I suggest that the company should renew and develop the company culture to be more positive, energetic, creative along side with professional It is undeniable that the company has built its own reputation and define a certain position in the industry in Nha Trang city A twist in company image and company culture would not also help you stand out proficiently but also attract many new potential customers and partners in the future, I believe

I know I’m talking about Marketing etc and it also relates to finiancial problems I hope nothing but the best for your company, and I believe SUNDAY CONSULTANCY AND TRANSLATION CO., LTD will have a flourishing business in the industry

CHAPTER 4 - TRANSLATION

4.1 Reason to c ho ose the Topic

Legal document translation is a draining but crucial process for many businesses in Vietnam An incorrect Vietnamese document translation can lead to extremely serious consequences for your and your businesses

Law and translation are both every distinctive entities but the word of law is more draconian and it must be accurate in all languages This makes legal document translations even more challenging especially in a country like Vietnam with its law and regulations constantly shifting

For this reason I would like to take the opportunity to chose legal documents for my internship report I hope this is not only help me to manifest my interest in this kind of documents but also be a significant description of the work I had worked on during the intership period

Both of the source documents in translation chapter are provided by SUNDAY CONSULTANCY AND TRANSLATION CO., LTD

4.2 English Vietnamese Translation

confidential basis;

(b) investigation of such reports by the

Prescribed Officer; and

(c) protection against reprisal to

whistleblower who disclosed or

reported in good faith

This Policy does not replace or affect the

Company’s code of conduct or other policies

and procedures established or to be established

by the Company from time to time

In this Policy, "BERJAYA or Group Company”

means Berjaya Land Berhad and / or any or all

of its subsidiaries and "affiliated companies”

include any or all related companies, associate

companies within BERJAYA; "Prescribed

Officer” means the person authorized to receive

reports on Whistleblowing matters; "CEO”

means the Chief Executive Officer of

BERJAYA; "Board of Directors” means the

board of directors of BERJAYA; "Policy”

means this Whistleblowing policy, as may be

revised and amended from time to time

2 REPORTING PROCEDURES

(a) Who can disclose

Any of the following persons

("Whistleblower”) can make a report directly

to the Group Company of any suspected or

actual Wrongdoing that is being or had been

or about to be committed, provided always

that the Whistleblower has unequivocally

decided not to rely on or be protected by the

provisions of the Whistleblower Protection

Act 2010 ("Act”):

• the Group Company’s employees,

including employees on contract,

temporary or short term employees

and employees on secondment;

• the Group Company’s third party

service providers, independent

contractors, vendors and suppliers;

and

• members of the public

b) What to disclose

A report can be made if it relates to any

conduct which if proved, constitutes a

disciplinary offence or a criminal offence by

any employee or director within any Group

Company ("Wrongdoing”) Wrongdoing

includes, but is not limited to :

• taking or giving favours, kickbacks,

bribes and privileges;

• abuse of power by any director or

officer of any Group Company;

• serious financial irregularity or

impropriety;

• serious breach of company’s code of

Có thể thực hiện báo cáo nếu có liên quan đến bất kỳ hành vi nào nếu được chứng minh, cấu thành hành vi vi phạm kỷ luật hoặc tội hình sự của b t k ấ ỳ nhân viên hoặc giám đốc nào trong bất kỳ Công ty nào trong Tập đoàn (“Sai phạm”) Sai phạm bao gồm, nhưng không giới hạ ởn :

• nhận hoặc đưa ra các đặc ân, tiền đút lót, hối lộ và các đặc quyền;

• tham nhũng hoặc gian lận;

• tài chính bất thường nghiêm trọng hoặc không phù hợp;
