UNIT 11: WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH YOU?

I Objectives.

By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to

+ Use the words and phrases related to the topic Common health

+ Ask and answer questions about common health problems

II Language focus.`

* Vocabulary: toothache, earache, sore throat, stomach ache, dentist, take a rest,

carry, sweet

* Sentence Patterns: - What’s the matter with you?

- Invite some pupils to role play the short

story in Review 2

- Then introduce the new unit by writing

What’s the matter with you?

C New lesson

1 Look, listen and repeat

- Have Ss look at each picture and get

them identify the familiar characters and

the new ones Point to each character and

ask: Who is this? Do you know him/ her?

Where’s he/ She? What are they talking

about?

- Write the new vocabulary on the board “

headache, fever, hot, What’s the matter

with you?”and get pupils to say the words

at a few times

- Play the recording twice: once for pupils

to listen all the way through and once for

them to repeat Pause after each line for

them to repeat a few times

- Divide the class into groups to take

turns to say the lines from Tony, mother

and his father.

- Call some pairs to practise in front of

- Some pupils to role play the short story in Review 2

- Listen to the teacher and answer

- Look at each picture and identify the characters

- Write down into the notebook and

repeat after the teacher “ headache, fever, hot, What’s the matter with you?”

- Listen to the tape and repeat

- Role plays to practice the dialogue
