UNIT 13: WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME?

I Objectives.

After the lesson, Ss will be able to:

- Use the words and phrases related to the topic: Free time activities.

- Develop Ss listening and speaking skills

- Ask and answer questions about what someone does in his/her free time,using

“What do you do in your free time?”

II.Language focus.

1 Vocabulary: surf the Internet, clean the house,do karate

2 Sentence Patterns: + What do you do in your free time? - I

III.Teaching aids

- Equipments in English room

- Books, teachers’ book, notebooks, cards and cassette

IV Produres.

A Class organization

Good morning/ afternoon!

Who is absent today?

B Warm up

Play a game: Bingo

- Ask the class to give words for their free

time activities and have them play Bingo

with phrases such as play badminton,play

chess,go to the zoo,

+ Get them to make sentences with the

phrases in the game

C New lesson.

1 Look, listen and repeat.

- Ask Ss to look at the picture a and answer

the questions:

+ Who are they?

+ Where are they?

+What’s Nam doing?

- Have them look at the book and listen to

the tape

- Play the recording for Ss listen

- Ask them to repeat a few times

- Repeat the procedure with the rest

- Play the game

- Look at the picture and give the answers

- Listen carefully

- Listen and repeat

- Play the recording through

- Practice with Ss

- Divide the class into 2 groups Ask Ss to

practice in pairs

- Check some pairs

- Others give comments

- T gives comments

- Go round and check if Ss can repeat and

understand the dialogue

2 Point and say.

- Ask Ss to look at picture d in part 1 again.

- Have them read the question in the picture

- Write the question on the board

- Teach Ss how to answer:

What do you do in your free time?

- I ride my bike in the park.

- Ask Ss to change the underlined words to

have another answers

- Work in groups

- Work in pairs

- Practise in front of the class

- Look at the pictures and say aloud the question

- Give new sentence pattern

- Write down the sentence pattern

- Work in pairs

- Some pairs practice in front of the class Others listen and check

- Introduce new words:

Surf the Internet/do karate/clean the

house

- Ask Ss to ask and answer the pictures a, b,

c, d

- Call some pairs to practise in front of the

class

- Give feedback and correct mistakes of

pronunciation

- Make a few questions to check Ss’

comprehension of the language

3 Let’s talk.

- Tell the class that they are going to

practise further by asking and answering

questions about activities in their free time

- Get Ss to work in groups of four to ask

and answer each other’s address

- Remind them to use the questions and

answers in their books

- Set a time limit for the class to practise

- Answer

- Repeat

- Work in groups

- Practise in front of the class
