I Objectives.

After the lesson, Ss will be able to:

- Use the words and phrases related to the topic: comparing places.

- Asking and answering questions to compare places (adjectives with one or two

syllables)

- Develop Ss listening and speaking skills

II Language focus.

1 Vocabulary:

Noisy, noisier, busier, large, larger, small, smaller, expensive, exciting, peaceful.

2 Sentence Patterns:

+ Which one is … , or … ? I think.

III Teaching aids.

- Equipments in English room.

- Books, teachers’ book, notebooks, cards and cassette

Good morning/ afternoon!

Who is absent today?

B Warm up

- Ss say the chant What do you think of it? In

Unit 19, Lesson 3, Activity 3

C New lesson.

1 Look, listen and repeat.

- Ask Ss to look at the pictures and answer

the questions:

+ Who are they?

+ Where are they?

+ What are they talking about?

- Have them look at the book and listen to the

tape

- Play the recording for Ss listen

- Ask them to repeat a few times

- Repeat the procedure with the rest pictures

- Play the recording through

- Good morning/ afternoon.

- Play the game

- Look at the picture and give the answers

- Listen carefully

- Practice with Ss.

- Divide the class into 2 groups Ask Ss to

practice in pairs

- Check some pairs

- Others give comments

- T gives comments

- Go round and check if Ss can repeat and

understand the dialogue

2 Point and say.

- Ask Ss to look at picture d in part 1 again.

- Have them read the question in the picture

- Write the question on the board

- Teach Ss how to answer:

Which one is … , … or….? I think ….

- Ask Ss to change the underlined words to

have another answers

- Introduce new words and teach: small,

smaller, large, larger, noisy, noiser, busy,

busier

- Say aloud for Students to repeat

- Listen and repeat

- Work in groups

- Work in pairs

- Practise in front of the class

- Look at the pictures and say aloud the question

- Ask Ss to ask and answer the pictures a, b,

c, d

- Call some pairs to practise in front of the

class

- Give feedback and correct mistakes of

pronunciation

- Make a few questions to check Ss’

comprehension of the language

- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases

and sentence pattern in chorus to reinforce

their pronunciation

3 Let’s talk.

- Tell the class that they are going to practise

further by asking and answering questions to

compare two cities or town.

- Get Ss to work in groups of two Which one

is … , … or….? I think ….

- Remind them to use the questions and

answers in their books

- Set a time limit for the class to practise

- Monitor the activity and offer help, if
