Trang 91 Rationale Of The Study
SWOT – a useful tool for understanding and decision making in anysituation for any business organization With this toolkit, it will help businessescapture and recognize strengths and weaknesses, as well as find opportunities andchallenges to have a business strategy to help businesses develop in a sustainableand good way more beautiful
In the current market mechanism under the management of the State of Vietnam, allenterprises must be completely autonomous in doing business, making their owndecisions and taking responsibility for their business activities On the other hand, each enterprise is an open economic module in the national economy and graduallyintegrates with the regional and world economy, which requires businesses not only
to pay attention to the current situation and trends, changes in the domestic businessenvironment, but also must take into account both the positive and negative impacts
of the regional and international business environment The business environment isgetting wider and wider, the competitive and volatile nature of the environment isgetting stronger and stronger, the future direction is increasingly important for thedevelopment of the business Business strategy is a tool to orient and control anenterprise's activities according to objectives suitable to environmentalcircumstances and therefore, it plays a decisive role in the success or failure of thebusiness
Nimex Joint Stock Company, over the course of more than ten years ofestablishment and development, has gradually asserted its position and is currentlythe leading producer of stone powder and agro forestry products in terms of marketshare provincial school However, Vietnam's accession to the WTO, which meansthat Vietnam must open its market to 100% foreign-owned enterprises to operatefreely and equally in the Vietnamese market, has led to the fiercer competition inthe near future In addition, the global financial crisis and the stagnation of thedomestic economy are also directly affecting the existence and development of all
Trang 10branches of the national economy, including the economic sector import and exportsector
Faced with that situation, Nimex Joint Stock Company needs to devise a businessstrategy to capture business opportunities, limit difficulties and challenges tocontinue developing? This is an issue of vital importance for the company in thenear future

Trang 12CHAPTER 1: LITERATURE REVIEW 1.1 Introduction to SWOT analysis model
The SWOT analysis model is a very useful tool for capturing and makingdecisions in any situation for any business organization SWOT stands forStrengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats SWOT provides a tool forstrategic analysis, reviewing and evaluating the location, orientation of a business or
a business plan SWOT is suitable for teamwork and analysis, used in businessplanning, strategy formulation, competitor evaluation, marketing, product andservice development, etc In SWOT analysis models, strengths and weaknesses areintrinsic factors of the company and opportunities and threats are external factors.SWOT allows the analysis of various factors that have a relative effect on thecompetitiveness of the company
SWOT analysis is the subjective evaluation of data arranged in SWOTformat in an easy-to-understand logical order, easy to present, easy to discuss andmake decisions, which can be used in any decision-making process SWOT patternsallow for thought stimulation rather than based on habitual or instinctive responses
The SWOT model was born in the 1960s and 1970s at Stanford researchinstitute The original purpose of the study was to understand the causes of thefailure of companies' long-term planning It was funded by the 500 largest U.S.companies of the time Managers of this period argued that making a businessstrategy of the business in the form of a long-term plan was an expensive but lesseffective investment In fact, the crux of the matter is how to get the managementteam to agree and come up with a capture able action plan To solve this problem, the Stanford Research Institute team, including Marion Dosher, Dr Otis Benepe,Albert Humphrey, Robert Stewart, Birger Lie, sought to build a model, a systemthat could help the management team evaluate and do its job well
The team takes the first step by gathering information and evaluating what isgood, what is bad in current and future operations The good in the presentmanifests itself in satisfactory, which in the future manifests itself in opportunity; The bad side of the present manifests itself in the fault, which in the future
Trang 13manifests itself in danger This model of analysis was originally called SOFT Afterthe model was introduced to Urick and Orr in 1964 in Zurich, Switzerland, theychanged F to W (Weak) and SWOT was born from there The first version wastested and presented in 1966 based on work at Eie Technology Corp In 1973,SWOT was used at J W French Ltd and has been growing ever since In early 2004,SWOT was perfected and demonstrated its superiority in setting and unifying thebusiness objectives and strategies of organizations and businesses without relying
on consulting or other costly resources
Figure 1.1: SWOT
From the above drawing we can understand that SWOT analysis is ananalysis of four factors: Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats.Strengths and Weaknesses are internal factors in the business Opportunities andThreats are external factors that affect the business Weaknesses and Threats arenegative factors for the business, while Strengths and Opportunities are positivefactors In order for enterprises to operate production and business effectively, enterprises must build for themselves strengths; overcome weaknesses; search, explore opportunities and minimize threats
1.2 Content of SWOT model analysis method
Trang 14In order to apply SWOT analysis model to the development of businessstrategy in the enterprise, it is necessary to first conduct information collection, analyze the factors of the internal and external environment affecting the businessaccording to strengths criteria, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats
Strengths: What are the advantages of your business? What business is the
best business? Which business resources are the strongest? The above issues must
be considered and evaluated in a practical and objective way
Weaknesses: What are the biggest weaknesses for the business? What
weaknesses can be improved? What should businesses avoid doing? Why can yourcompetitors do better? It is necessary to pay attention to collecting informationabout the market and of competitors, conducting comparisons and comparisons todetect our own weaknesses that we may not see without comparison
Opportunities: Where is your business's best opportunity? What trends in
the market need to be taken care of? What is the growth potential of the market? The most effective way to identify opportunities is to review the strengths of thebusiness itself and ask yourself whether that advantage will bring or open up anynew opportunities for the business or vice versa, review the weaknesses of thebusiness and question whether there are any opportunities that arise if they areeliminated
Threats: What obstacles are businesses facing and will face? What might
your competitors have in mind? How can the fluctuations of the economy affectbusinesses? Is there a problem with solvency as well as for the cash flow of thebusiness? After analyzing the relatively independent factors in the SWOT model, these elements are sorted and synthesized into a table called the SWOT matrix TheSWOT matrix consists of 9 cells: 4 cells that list the factors of strengths -weaknesses - opportunities - risks; 4 cells list the strategic options formed and 1 cell
is always left empty (top cell, left):
Trang 15(Always empty)
Opportunities (Opportunity)
Table 1.1: SWOT Matrix
The SWOT matrix is an important and effective combination tool that canhelp managers develop four types of strategies: Strengths-Opportunity strategies(SO); strategic weaknesses - opportunities (WO); Weakness-risk strategy (WT) andstrength-risk strategy (ST) Combining the above elements together is the mostdifficult task in applying the SWOT model It requires good judgment andrecognition of the problem Looking at the table above, we will have 4 specificstrategies above that are understood as follows:
SO strategy: Businesses use their inner strengths to exploit and takeadvantage of external opportunities This is the most ideal position that a businesshas always wanted to have and all managers want their business to be in a positionwhere internal strengths can be leveraged to embrace external trends andopportunities
WO Strategy: Businesses improve, overcome internal weaknesses by takingadvantage of opportunities from the outside Sometimes there are goodopportunities from outside that existing but the business has weaknesses thatprevent it from taking advantage of these opportunities
ST strategy: Businesses promote their own inner strengths to avoid orminimize negative influences from external threats
WT strategy: These are corporate defense strategies aimed at minimizinginternal weaknesses and avoiding threats from the external environment A business
in this situation often has bad business results, has to overcome many weaknesses,
Trang 16and has to deal with external threats In this case the business must struggle tosurvive, link or merge to avoid the risk of bankruptcy.
After creating the SWOT matrix and considering the coordination, one mustlook at it in an overview combined with experience and judgment to determine themost suitable strategic options Once the strategic options have been identified, these options will be considered to come up with the most optimal strategy for thebusiness by the method of giving points
Some criteria used for evaluating and selecting strategies:
Is the strategy appropriate for environmental circumstances?
Is it in line with the integration trend of Vietnam’s economy?
Is it in line with the government's policies and policies?
Is it in line with the overall development trend of the industry?
Does the strategy help businesses gain advantages over competitors?
Does it help the business to develop its strengths? Does it helpbusinesses avoid direct confrontation, avoid the strengths ofcompetitors?
Is the organizational structure, internal policy, management style andbusiness philosophy of the business in line with this strategy?
Does the organizational structure make sense? What majoradjustments do we need?
Is the management style, business philosophy suitable?
Does internal policy facilitate or hinder the implementation of thestrategy?
Does the company's human resources meet the requirements ofimplementing the strategy?
Can the current number of employees be met?
Missing and weak in which department?
What is the quality of human resources?
Is the cost of retraining high or low?
Trang 17 What is the level of financial risk when providing capital toimplement the strategy? The ability to raise investment capital?
The possibility of payback?
The time limit for returning investment capital?
Are the potential benefits worth the risks?
Is the strategy right for the future? Is the timing of the strategyappropriate, does it work?
Are the analyses, judgments, assumptions mentioned consistent withreality?
Make a table to evaluate strategic options according to the principle:
The total weight of all factors is 1; Give the level of response of eachstrategy according to each factor determined according to thefollowing principle:
o Eliminate all options with a total score of less than 5.00
o Choose the strategic option with the highest total score

Trang 201.3 Importance of SWOT
The analysis of the SWOT Matrix is one of the 05 steps to form a business strategy, which has implications for the business in the formation of the domestic business strategy and in the formation of an international business strategy to meet the development needs of the business.
SWOT analysis is an indispensable stage in the process of planning the business strategy of the business especially in the case when the business wants to develop, step by step create a reputation and brand for themselves in
a solid and sustainable way.
SWOT analysis is meant to help subjectively evaluate the data arranged
in SWOT format in an easy-to-understand, easy-to-present, discuss logical order that can be used in all decision-making processes, it will also provide useful information for connecting the resources and capabilities of the business with a competitive environment the business operates.
The SWOT matrix used will help to bring the most insight into the organization, the business as well as the specifics of each project, it also helps the planner or business owner get a more comprehensive and comprehensive view of strategic planning decision making and planning settings.
Therefore, this model is applied in many stages such as developing a market development strategy, planning for the company, evaluating performance, making decisions, evaluating competitors, new product development plans for market expansion strategies,
Strengths and Weaknesses represent internal elements of the business, which are two factors that can be controlled and changed These factors are related to company operations, assets belonging to the enterprise, product development,
Opportunities and Threats are external, market-related and macro factors Businesses can seize the opportunity but also need and pay attention,
Trang 21pay attention to the challenges from outside may come With these factors, businesses often cannot control and change: competitors, input material prices, customer shopping trends,
A SWOT analysis can help us list the strongest and most detailed strengths, weaknesses that need to be overcome, know how to take opportunities from the outside, and prevent the challenges that lie ahead.
And when we take the time to analyze SWOT, the business or organization is sure to formulate the necessary strategies and suggestions when combining S-W-O-T factors together These are the foundations that the company or organization needs to develop the orientation in the future development to come.
In marketing, especially in the introduction of marketing strategies, marketers apply the SWOT matrix to analyze factors inside and outside the company to make it easier in the process of progressing to their goals.
In which internal factors are usually: company objectives, company orientation, organizational structure, key human resources, ability to use resources, operational efficiency, operational capacity, brand reputation, market share, finance, Essential external factors are micro environment and macro environment.
It is necessary to clearly define the topic of analysis by SWOT assessing the prospects of a problem or a certain entity, including criteria such
as location, reliability of the company, product, trademark, proposal, new market entry strategy or market coverage,
Trang 221.4 Importance of SWOT
1.4.1 External factors:
1.4.1.1 Domestic and world economic environment:
Economic factors in the country and the world strongly affect the businesssituation of enterprises in general, including enterprises This influence is becomingmore and more evident because Vietnam is in the process of integration, the trend ofregionalization and globalization is taking place very far and popular The economywill grow at a high rate that will increase the incomes of the population classes, thereby increasing the solvency of their needs, especially in terms of exports Thismakes limestone products increasingly diversified to best meet the needs of themarket
As market demand grows, businesses' ability to expand their businesses andaccumulate investment capital will increase This capital when invested back intothe economy will be an important resource for economic growth and the businessenvironment becomes more and more attractive, attracting investment to growstronger and stronger
The domestic economy and the world economy are growing., the exchange
of import and export of goods also grew strongly This is a very favorable conditionfor the development of maritime operations The exchange rate has a direct impact
on import and export activities and thereby also has a strong impact on demand inthe economy for this business However, the reality in Vietnam shows that in recentyears, due to the management level and capacity of foreign trade officials inenterprises are still weak, we mainly import goods at CIF prices and export goods atFOB prices
The inflation rate has a direct impact on both production and consumption inthe economy When the high inflation rate will adversely affect consumption, causing the demand of most goods and services will decrease, people with money
Trang 23now most have the mentality to buy gold and strong foreign currencies to hoard somoney does not produce money, it has reduced the amount of capital invested in theeconomy, causing the business activities of most businesses to stall.
1.4.1.2 Political and legal environment
Political stability is a prerequisite for each country and region to develop theeconomy and expand the scale of production and business A country or a regionthat is in a state of anarchy, war, constant riots, no investor dares to spend money toinvest, the country will lack foreign currency for economic development, domesticproduction and business stagnate, the life of the people is increasingly difficult topush that country into a vicious circle with no way out The political unrest inThailand in recent years has greatly affected the image of Thailand in the world, causing the economy to slow down, business sectors, especially services, tourism It's a lot of difficulty In Somalia, anarchy in the country is one of the main causes
of piracy Over the past year, many ships of countries around the world have beenrobbed while passing through this international shipping lane In addition, sanctionsand tensions between the Russian and Ukraine wars have also made it difficult forthe world to look like oil and shipping prices
In Vietnam, maintaining political security and social order and safety is one
of the top priorities of the Party and the State This has had a positive impact onVietnam's investment environment over the years Countries and investors aroundthe world always consider Vietnam as a safe place for their investment activities.FDI and ODA pouring into Vietnam is one of the important channels of capital forthe development of the country
The creation of a healthy or unhealthy business environment dependsentirely on the legal element and the management is carried out in accordance withthe law in each country The promulgation of a quality legal system and put to life isthe first condition to ensure an equal business environment, creating conditions forall businesses to have the opportunity to compete healthily; establishing a properand equal relationship between producers and consumers, between service providers
Trang 24and service users; Forcing every business to do business properly, responsibly forsociety and to customers
The system of legal documents regulating business activities in Vietnam isnow quite a lot and very strict Current business activities in Vietnam are directlyregulated by the Customs Law, the Enterprise Law, the Tax Law and documentsunder the law, guiding the implementation of the law There are many regulationsfrom the time the business was established until the liquidation, bankruptcy
Economy, economic structural policies, industry development strategies ineach period will create priority or inhibit the development of each industry, eachspecific region, thereby directly affecting the results and business performance ofeach business
1.4.1.3 Natural environment
Factors of the natural environment include natural resources that can beexploited, geographical conditions such as terrain, land, weather, climate Itaffects the business of the business
Natural conditions affect the operation of each type of business in differentdirections For insurance businesses, the natural environment is mainly affected byclimate such as storms, wind, cyclones, earthquakes, tsunamis increases thelikelihood of risks and losses, increases the compensation rate of enterprises andforces businesses to calculate the appropriate fees to ensure the ability tocompensate and pay according to the law of large numbers
1.4.1.4 Socio-cultural environment
Social culture affects slowly, but also very deeply, the management andbusiness activities of the business Social culture also directly affects the formation
of corporatization, group culture as well as the attitude of managers and employees
to each other as well as to customers and business partners
1.4.1.5 Competitive environment of enterprises
Trang 25Potential rivals
Customer Providers
In the industry
The competition of existing businesses
Figure 1.2: Industry competitive environment
Competitors in the industry of the same field including all businesses in themarket are offering products similar to their own products in the same market area
The supply capacity of all competitors in the field of business constitutes thesupply of products throughout the market The number, size and strength of eachcompetitor all affect the business activities of the business However, it should benoted that the level of influence of the competitors is also associated with thedivision market: usually only competitors in the same parts market area affect eachother's business
When researching competitors, businesses in the same field need to payattention to: is the number of competitors more or less? Is the level of growth of theindustry fast or slow? are competitors able to afford to differentiate products orredirect business? To what extent is the diversity of competitors' products andservices? the level of expectations of competitors in their business strategy and theexistence of barriers to leaving the industry
Businesses in the same industry will participate in the market (potentialcompetitors): businesses of the same industry will enter the market as newcompetitors appearing or will appear in the market area where the business is andwill operate The impact of these businesses depends entirely on the competitivepower of that business (size, business experience )
Trang 26The emergence of new competitors in the market will change the entirecompetitive picture in the industry The emergence of new businesses, more or less, will increase the level of competition of the industry When considering newcompetitors entering the industry, we need to pay attention to the following factors:barriers to market entry, economies of scale, differentiation of products, distributionchannels of competitors, macro management policies and etc
Pressure of replacement products: Replacement products are one of theimportant factors affecting the business process of the business In the face ofcompetitive pressure, businesses are increasingly researching and improving tooffer better products and services, having a wider market opening range, morecompetitive prices to meet the increasing needs of customers
Pressure from customers in competition: Customers of the business are thosewho have demand for services and products that the business provides Formanufacturing businesses, customers are not only current customers but alsopotential customers The customer is the one who makes the profit, the decisivefactor in the victory of the business
In the context of fierce competition, when the number of domestic andforeign companies providing services is increasing and the number of customers islimited, it is likely that customers "squeeze prices", forcing businesses to priceproducts equal to or lower than competitors is likely to happen The needs ofcustomers are diverse and rich Businesses that know how to exploit and meet theneeds of customers will have a victory in their hands
The ruffle is scruffy The business is eager to meet the needs of the armpitsthat are quietly placed in their hands
1.4.2 Internal Factors
1.4.2.1 The impact of marketing
Marketing is the process of planning and implementing ideas related to theformation, price determination, promotion and distribution of products and servicesthat enterprises provide in the market Marketing activities often focus on the type, differentiation and quality of products, services, market share, price, customer

The goal of marketing is to satisfy the needs and desires of customers outsideand inside the business, ensuring the provision of products and services with theright quality and price to help the business gain an advantage in competition andachieve high profits in the long term
In today's businesses, branding, market research, advertising, marketing .More and more attention, more attention The more quality a business's marketing isand the wider the scope, the more it can create advantages to win over competitors

Human resources are the creative workforce of the business Labor is animportant factor and a valuable asset for every business The workforce in theenterprise includes both the management team and the workforce working directly
in the departments and departments, ensuring the effective operation and operation
of the whole enterprise
Every business needs to be aware of the decisive role of human resources.Enterprises need to pay attention to ensuring the quantity, quality, structure as well
as the fluctuation of human resources in the enterprise In addition, enterprises need
to ensure the necessary working conditions for employees and always have timelyforms of reward and encouragement, creating conditions for employees to maximizetheir capacity while also frankly reprimanding and disciplining individuals, thegroup violates, affecting the business situation of the enterprise
1.4.2.3 Organizational structure of the enterprise
The organizational structure of the enterprise is the synthesis of differentdepartments with interdependent relationships and interdependent relationships thatare specialized, assigned certain responsibilities and powers and arranged at eachlevel to perform the management functions of the enterprise
The organizational structure has a strong impact on the creative laboractivities of the workforce, on the balance between the enterprise and the externalenvironment as well as the effective balance of the parts inside the enterprise When
Trang 28reviewing and evaluating the organizational structure of the enterprise, enterprisesneed to pay attention to the need to properly assess the status of the organizationalstructure on both the organizational system and its operating mechanism and theadaptability of the organizational structure to the fluctuations of the businessenvironment In addition, enterprises can also evaluate the effectiveness of theorganizational structure through a number of indicators such as: decision speed, timeliness and accuracy of decisions,
1.4.2.4 The financial situation of the business
