Service-learning refers to learning that actively involves students in a wide range of experiences, which often benefit others and the community, while also advancing the goals of a given curriculum

Community-based service activities are paired with structured preparation and student reflection What is unique about service learning is that it offers direct application of theoretical models Proponents of academic service learning feel that the real-world application of classroom knowledge in a community setting allows students to synthesize course material in more meaningful ways Common goals achieved by service learning include: gaining a deeper understanding of the course/curricular content, a broader

appreciation of the discipline and an enhanced sense of civic responsibility

During my internship and teaching in the Neighborhood, I had many interesting

experiences and realized that I was also able to convey English language lessons to children Beside me, there are always people who are willing to help and support me so that I can fulfill my tasks well

So, I would like to send my most sincere thanks to them

First of all, I would like to send my sincere thanks to Mr Tuan, is the dean foreign languages department of Thu Dau Mot University because he inspired for service

learning programs to us This is a valuable opportunity so that I can experience myself and make these useful works for the community in my internship

universities Forms of this learning can be done by students will device into groups and share at all Wards They are guided, communicated, participated in these training courses

so that they can be provided some teaching experience from their instructor and therefore,they have good knowledge to teach and ensure the quality of lessons for them Students can form their personal work with others in the class and in the community to innovate these service projects in the fields of education, social security or environment Service learning project is supported of the ward so everyone always creates many material conditions for children to learn such as: books, tables, bags, pens, Here, they will learn some cultural subjects or social subject English Service learning brings warm with people, especially supporting who have not conditions to participate learning, and we will

reduce an illiteracy, that contributed to raising awareness of people, heightening the importance of literacy

In addition, service learning encourages people at all ages can participate They are supported free in all aspects and they will ensure a good quality of knowledge Without learning, they will be participating in some funny activities by organizing of volunteers and it builds solidarity for emotional connection between people

Now, service learning is developing with many foreign students in all countries

Volunteers in all provinces are sent mountainous or highlands to teach the poor children Many charity programs provide books and clothes for these children can go to school Service learning is not only to attract students and volunteers but also encourages

everyone can participate in the teaching Service learning can be applied in the diversity many different environments such as: nursery school, primary school, secondary school

or university to these community societies Especially, service learning of model is not only to attract students to participate but also encourages students of pedagogical lecturesbecause they have good knowledge of the skills learned at school This will help them to gain more experience in their teaching after graduation Service learning of model is acting by their own established, with some requires volunteers can teach a long-term, have a lots of enthusiasm with children in the class of love

The children who met us were always excited and greeted whenever we entered the classroom Ask me what lesson we will teach them today, they said they learned the lesson and copied the previous day's lesson They show us today that there are a few new classmates I and my friends are really happy because the kids are always excited to studywith us You go to school very well and absorb lessons quickly

Each class, our group organizes a lot of activities for children

Before the class, we often Warm-up give children the dance songs with English music, give the hearts made of paper to the children of the old lesson

In each lesson, we always combine teaching new vocabulary and images related to those words to help children remember longer After each main lesson, we create groups to

dance To increase the atmosphere for the lesson, both teachers and students dance

together

Besides, we also organize many games for children, for example: When learning about the topic "Animals", we will let you small children guess the animal When learning about "Emotion", we often let children read their emotions and express their faces at the same time

In addition, we also allow parents to join with us for the lesson I feel they are very happybecause their children really improve

Description internship process

My internship took place from February 25th to April 26th, 2019 Before starting my internship, I had introduced about the staff of teachers and the circulation for children andtheir parents

My job was to teach for the kids in the ward at night Be a teacher, I had to teach for students about the basic knowledge of English of reading and speaking Therefore, I thought the teacher must active and creative in teaching, always created many exciting activities for children In during my internship time, I taught children follow the topics that I mentioned in action plan Although our class had a lot of levels from grade 1 to grade 5, I taught simple knowledge that suitable for childrens I spent ten weeks teaching English, the lesson started from 7p.m to 8:15p.m on each Wednesday and Friday In the first week, children at the class of love will begin to learn the greeting in English In second week, children will learn the alphabet English In the next weeks, children will learn English lessons related to many topics such as: colors, animals, food, fruits,

weather, family and shapes The teaching new words will follow step by step such as: Vowels and consonants learning - The international phonetic symbols (IPS) - meaning - reaction - game Through my internship time, I must ensure that all children are known tospell and remember the alphabet

Next, children will be studied these forms question in English by apply into vocabularylearned Then I will give the previous example and take form the sample form (add S andV) to complete sentences The teaching English is always guaranteed that I will use morecommunication English than Vietnamese In summary, this is a job which requiresresponsibility, good sense of humor and clear speaking voice Especially, teacher mustpatiently investigate, has specific knowledge and be able to communicate well Maybethis is reasons which make me to change my thoughts and bad habit Hence, I loved thisjob; it gave me a patient virtue

 This is an opportunity for me to study something new, I can improve myknowledge and assert myself That helped me overcome many difficultiesproblems

The experience accumulated after my internship period.

The most valuable thing I learning during my project, I have accumulated a lot ofexperiences when I took part in teaching for kids in the ward Before my internship time,

I have provided some knowledge of teaching English to children, so I always have a goodpreparation at class

During internship time here, I have been supported everything by volunteers I learned to

be patient, rigorous and disciplined for children In addition, I had observed, monitored the teaching process of volunteers to give these notes for my teaching

Volunteers showed for me many difficulties in the way of training kids and they alwaysmake conditions for me well adapted with the new teaching environment

I have learned from the experience of these volunteers involved about the solidarity,willing to support each other They have done their share, understanding for the situation

of kids However, volunteers were not afraid of difficulties to accompany them during thekid’s learning Besides, I deeply admire volunteers in the class of love, they have tried toarrange their time in order to maintain class while studying and working

My teaching in the class of love is an opportunity for me to apply the knowledge learned.During my internship time, I’m ready to do good all works and I completed everythingvery well In addition, volunteers in the ward had seen my attempt and enthusiasm in myteaching English

The personal experience acquired through the training course

Through ten weeks of training process at the class of love, I got a lot valuable workingexperience and the teaching skills In my opinion, these precious experiences will help

me a lot for my work in future I feel about my project is meaningful and useful It helpsthe children learn the literacy, character of development for them so they have a goodsense of the social and legal

The best part of the project is these real activities, intimacy, and need in society, the highspirit of learning Because everyone involved in this project with their heart, their loving,and passionate desire to contribute in the community

The hardest part of the project is material facilities of deprivation in the classroom oflove Children do not have access class regularly and that makes for their learningbecome much difficult Besides, children are very stubborn, hard to teach so the teachermust be patient

If I could make changes in the lives of the people benefitting from my project, that helpsthem will acquire many knowledge to help their work and children will be learning andhave sufficient awareness of all aspects and it will help their lives Because, I think thateveryone need to make a meaningful work to help the community and have aresponsibility to the community, so I also need to give myself a sense of responsibility

The ways are that I could stay involved in this project in the future: I feel there are manyopportunities to participate, I can be come directly to observe the class of love Inaddition, I will participate in these voluntarily of program or the service learning groupacross the network or from the recommendation of my friend who has joined the group

Advantages

I'm very lucky to be involved in the teaching job in the class of love Volunteers havesupported to create conditions for me during my teaching process From there, they canassess my capability in during my internship here

I have been the enthusiastic support of my instructors through training course She gave

me the useful knowledge and I have been given the indication of English teaching forkids, the method of a teacher and handle situations of padagogy In the class of love, I'mproud to have done very well of my teaching The knowledge that I was her guidanceprovided, I can apply it very well in my teaching
