In the structural design, steel ship structures are now commonly calculated by rules of norm Designers usually predefine the sizes of the structure and conduct the verification according to the requirements This method is strict but the designed structure is nonoptimal shape Base on the golden section method and direct searching algorithm, the structural optimality of steel ship can be found in order to save materials, reduce structural weight as well as to improve the performance of maritime vessels
