inter-linked hypertext documents and applications of the World Wide Web (WWW), electronic mail, telephony, and file sharing

January 1, 1983 is considered the official birthday of the Internet Prior

to this, the various computer networks did not have a standard way to communicate with each other A new communications protocol was established called Transfer Control Protocol/Internetwork Protocol (TCP/IP) This allowed different kinds of computers on different networks to "talk" to each other ARPANET and the Defense Data Network officially changed to the TCP/IP standard on January 1, 1983, hence the birth of the Internet All networks could now be connected

by a universal language

No one person invented the internet When networking technology was first developed, a number of scientists and engineers brought their research together to create the ARPANET Later, other inventors’

1960, RAND corporation of America) made publicly the first network with the principle that three would not be any central authority

The defense department of the USA decided to obstruct the invention from a distance In this connection they give the responsibility to Paul Barren of Rolled Institute In 1964 Paul Barren invented the concept of the Internet In 1969 the Advanced Research project Agency (DARPA) under construction of the US Defense Department applied this concept and constructed a computer network among only four computers of Standard Research Institute in California, University of California at Los Angeles, University of California at Santa Barbara and University of Utah This original network, the very first computer network, was called ARPANET (Advance Research Project Agency Network) It was built with the Intention to create a network that would still be available to function efficiently if part of the network was damaged

With the invention of ARPANET the first travel of the Internet started from the 1st September 1969 After that, different technologies and techniques were started to develop and their involvement with the Internet brought the medium today’s status

In the mid 1970’2 the ARPA developed a set of rules called TCP/IP

This protocol enabled a variety of networks to be linked with the original ARPANET backbone The number of networks connected to it has grown over the years ARPANET did not originally use the TCP/IP suite from the beginning Instead the ARPANET used Network Control Protocol (NCP) TCP/IP completely replaced NCP from 1938

In the mid 1980’s ARPANET was splited into two networks, MILNET (Military Network) to support Military works and ARPANET to support the academic community In 1982, ARPANET joined with MILNET and ARMY, others and the Internet was thus formed from
