The Boise-Nampa MSA is home to fifteen institutions of higher education The City of Nampa works closely with the College of Western Idaho, the nation’s fastest growing community college, to meet the workforce needs of our employers The college features a new 176,000 sq ft state-of-the-art professional technical education facility located in Nampa

Companies hiring employees making $12/hr or more with benefits and manufacturing products marketed outside the region are eligible to receive a minimum of $2,000 per new job created paid directly to the company for employee training The Idaho Department of Labor manages the program The Canyon County Department of Labor is also available to assist in pre-screening applicants and hiring fairs

plus hundreds of classes online In the fall

of 2012, CWI introduced a new 176,000

BUILDING A THRIVING DOWNTOWN

The City of Nampa in partnership with the Nampa Development Corporation, Downtown Business Association and community stakeholders are working to create a vibrant downtown Over $34 Million has been invested

in improving downtown since 2002

Nampa Development Corporation and the Gardner Company are partnering together

to construct a new 62,000 square foot library, 300 stall parking structure, public

plaza and 14,000 square feet of private retail and office space - all in the heart of the

historic downtown district Expected completion is February 2015.

The 2035 City Comprehensive Plan outlines several goals and objectives to enhance the sustainability of our community:

• Retain the existing high quality environment for future generations by ensuring that land, air, water and wildlife are not diminished in quality or quantity due to future activity

• Recognize the natural beauty and resources of the City

• Manage the natural resources of the City for the use and benefit of present and future generations

• Protect water quality and quantity in the City’s streams, rivers, creeks, drains, lakes, and groundwater and consider the potential regional impacts on water supply and wastewater management for all proposed developments

• Promote natural resource areas by creating, preserving, and enhancing parks, hiking trails, active and passive recreation facilities and by creating useable open space for the betterment of the community

• Preserve open space, natural beauty and critical environmental areas

• Explore the use of solar, wind and other alternate energy to reduce energy consumption

• Develop strategies that allow the use of alternative energy sources
