Mission

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine develops highly qualified,

community-engaged, socially accountable health care professionals,

and serves our region, our nation, and the greater world through

transformative translational research, medical education, and clinical

programs that drive forward innovations in health care.

on faculty, friends, and alumni demonstrating the importance of philanthropic support to HWCOM.

Principal Initiatives

1 Establish HWCOM Laboratories for Advanced Medical Technology

for Glycobiology and for Cell-based Therapeutics and promote and

expand interdisciplinary research efforts between HWCOM and the

greater FIU campus.

2 Develop a clinical trials unit (CTU) that enables FIU engagement in

timely development of cutting-edge therapies and technologies that

address unmet medical needs.

3 Enhance Baptist Health South Florida/Miami Cancer Institute

Diversity–enriched Biospecimen Repository Facility.

4 Boost student success and clinical care delivery by developing innovative training models and curricula that integrate advances in educational technology to meet the needs of future students, faculty, staff, health care professionals, and an evolving health care system.

5 Design prospective comparative studies with precise longitudinal timelines and well-defined clinical and societal outcomes focusing on NeighborhoodHELP The goals include outcomes, publications in high impact journals, and significant extramural funding.

6 Develop and foster major donor stewardship/relationships and communication focused on major gifts that expand the HWCOM programmatic footprint.
