GAMA EDUCATION
Trang 2Since my childhood I am a sincere, honest, and hardworking student In 2010, I completed School Leaving Certificate (SLC) from Alpha English Medium Secondary Boarding School scoring 71.63% from my hometown After SLC, I went to Kathmandu for college and completed 10+2 in Science with biology as the major in
2012 from Caribbean Higher Secondary School with aggregate 60% Moving to the capital city was like a must-do situation as I was looking for quality education given a number of good colleges there and, of course, to pave the way for my dream course — Nursing My parents and brother had a similar thinking
The quest for nursing education landed me in India together with
my a few friends as recommended by my teachers at Caribbean Determined, I joined Combined Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Dehradun, India, in 2012 to study Nursing Science The four-year bachelor course was quite a good one as I developed both theoretical and practical knowledge in various areas They are midwifery and obstetrical nursing, community health nursing, medical surgical nursing (adult and geriatrics), child health nursing, mental health nursing The college has its own renowned hospital named as CIMS in Dehradun city The practical sessions I attended there helped me gain more under the guidance of skilled nursing tutorials, doctors and other medical personnel The hospital also has its own Intensive Caring Unit I was posted there as a nurse This was the opportunity that I will never forget in my life It gave me a chance to attend to critically ill patients and carry out nursing procedures
In addition, the same time I participated in a national conference on
“Innovations in Nursing; A Key to Develop and Reform the Standard of Nursing Education and its Practices” and also was awarded as the third competitor on its poster presentation Similarly, I participated in various social events in rural areas of Dehradun, India Finally, I completed my Bachelor’s degree in

Soon after this, I returned to Nepal passed the nursing license examination in 9 July 2017 In August, I started working as a nurse
in Buddha Minimal Access Intervention Pvt Ltd Kathmandu I worked there for three months and I left my job in October for a solid cause By the time I joined this institution, I was already tempted to pursue further studies in Australia for the reasons I’ve mentioned below
Working as a Nurse and at the same time taking up the IELTS course was a tough nut to crack In order to fully concentrate on this exam, I took two-month IELTS classes (from November 2017 to December 2017) In March 2018, I sat for the exam and scored overall 6.5 (speaking-7.0, listening-7, reading-6 and writing-6)
REASONS FOR NOT STUDYING IN NEPAL
In Nepal’s context, there are limited colleges for Masters in Nursing A total of four universities run this course in Nepal in Nepal — Tribhuvan University, Pokhara University, Kathmandu University, Purbanchal University It’s no exaggeration that the courses they offer have no wider choices of subjects It’s a bitter fact that one can see and feel politics even in sensitive sectors like education and health in Nepal Such tendency has badly affected psychology of students and forces us to choose a country where young minds are need not have to deal with so many hassles caused mainly because of politics
Furthermore, nursing students need to be practically skilled because one wrong nursing practise can lead to severe consequences Ours education system is more theory-based learning, rather than building practical skills This is because of lack of materials that includes research amenities

REASONS FOR NOT CHOOSING THE US, THE UK AND CANADA
Nepali students nowadays mostly prefer Australia rather than other countries And there are several reasons for that They look for a place where they can find great facilities and can afford with fewer expenses I have selected Australia over these countries because of the following reasons:
USA: The application processing procedure in the country is quite long IELTS exam does not merely fulfill the criteria to get an admission in American universities US student visa requirements include other tough examinations for application processing For instance, GRE, GMAT, TOEFL Furthermore, USA has more crime rate than Australia
UK: The country has most changing immigration rules that make
visa processing difficult The dollar price of the UK is higher than that of Australia which makes the cost of living and studying high
Canada: The climatic condition of Nepal is moderate The average temperature during summer rises till 27 degrees and during winter it lowers down to 0 degrees The climatic condition of Canada is too cold for me to adjust During winter it lowers down to -32 degrees The Australian temperature is similar to Nepal’s weather condition
