On-Campus Student Employee Orientation Checklist
This checklist can serve as a general guide for new student employee orientation and training This
is not an exhaustive list It is beneficial to provide clear and consistent expectations early, as the orientation and training a student receives on the first day of work will set the tone of the
employment experience CCLP/Student Employment staff are available to provide assistance

Welcome: Before Student Starts Working
□Send an e-mail to all department personnel introducing the new student employee.
□Schedule adequate uninterrupted time for orientation and training.
□If applicable, obtain access to telephone extensions, voicemail, and department accounts.
Service Excellence Introduction http://www.rollins.edu/service-excellence/
□ Review Service Excellence website and have students watch this 7 minute video
□ Explain the importance of the Service Excellence initiative and how it is applicable to the department.
Introduce Department Functions Policies & Procedures
□Organization, structure, and mission of the
department
□Review any department policies and procedures (ex: dress code, code of conduct etc.)
□ Relationship and interaction of the department
to other college departments.
□Time reporting, Breaks, Lunch duration/time.
□ The new employee’s role and how it relates to
other office roles.
□ Voicemail, E-mail, Private and Public network drives/directories, College Directory.
□Tour of department, introduction to staff,
facilities, restrooms, supplies, and office equipment.

Review Job Duties & Responsibilities
□Current job description, initial goals, expected results.
□Performance standards, how to properly handle common job related issues.
□Daily work hours, Midterm/Finals schedule expectations, extra assignment requirements.
Goal Settings, End of Year Learning Evaluations in Foxlink, & Career Development Requirements
□ Evaluation/Student Learning procedures and completion timeline Set expectations for completion
□ Career Development Requirements
