UD RANKED 12TH BEST REGIONAL SCHOOL IN THE MIDWEST,
ACCORDING TO U.S NEWS & WORW REPORT SURVEY
DAYTON, Ohio The University of Dayton is again ranked as one of the best regional universities in the Midwest, according to U.S News & World Report's annual
ranking of America's best colleges and universities
UD placed 12th in the region Like the past two years, UD won its highest marks for academic reputation, ranking sixth among Midwestern colleges UD also ranked sixth in
graduation rate rank, which is based on the average percentage of students in the 1983 to
1986 freshman classes who graduated within six years of the year in which they enrolled
The magazine ranked 559 regional colleges and universities in four regions of the country Regional colleges and universities, as defined by the magazine, generally award
more than half their bachelor's degrees in two or more professional programs, and many also
offer graduate degrees; The institutions were ranked by combining statistical data with the
results of a U.S News survey of academic reputations among 2,655 college presidents, deans
and admission directors
"It's gratifying to be included among the best universities in the Midwest," said the Rev James L Heft, S.M., provost "The University of Dayton's academic reputation is one
of our strongest recruiting tools."
~ Other factors in the rankings were student selectivity, faculty resources and the school's overall financial resources
Illinois Wesleyan University ranked first in the Midwest Other Ohio schools ranked among the 15 top regional universities in the Midwest: John Carroll University (9th) and Ohio Northern University (11th) The U.S News survey will be published in the Oct 4 issue
