Foster Garvey is excited to welcome its 2021 Summer Associates in the Seattle and Portland
offices This year's class is comprised of five talented students from the University of
Washington School of Law, Seattle University School of Law and the University of Oregon
School of Law
Each Summer Associate will be paired with their own Principal Mentor, Associate Buddy and
Workflow Coordinator, and will have an opportunity to work with a variety of the firm's practice
groups throughout the term The firm's Summer Associates are given an accurate snapshot of
life as an attorney at Foster Garvey by working on actual client projects that are challenging
and reflect the realities of practicing law
The 2021 Foster Garvey Summer Associate class includes:
Beau Bryan | Seattle | Rising 3L | University of Washington
Kenneth L Schubert Jr Diversity Fellow
Beau is a Washington native who grew up in Tumwater At UW Law, Beau is pursuing a
concentration in Law, Business, and Entrepreneurship and is a member of numerous student
organizations, including the Law and Business Association, where he serves as Vice President
of Communication; OutLaws, the school’s LGBTQ+ law student group; and the Technology Law
Society Beau was recently selected for the Technology Law and Public Policy Clinic at UW Law
and is excited to pair his experience in public policy with his evolving passion for business and
technology
Julie Do | Seattle | Rising 2L | Seattle University
Kenneth L Schubert Jr Diversity Fellow
Julie is a Seattle native who graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s
degree in Business and a master’s degree in Accounting She is a certified public accountant
and has worked in tax compliance and tax program management for more than a decade Julie
is a recipient of the Dean’s Diversity Scholarship and the Trustee Scholarship In December
2020, she also received the CALI Award in Legal Writing Before law school, she worked at
various companies in Seattle, including several accounting firms and most recently at Amazon

Richard Kim | Seattle | Rising 3L | University of Washington
Gregoire Fellow
A west coast native, Richard grew up in Los Angeles before attending West Point, where he
majored in Economics and was commissioned as an Army Officer Richard spent five years in
the Army, where he ran more than 100 combat patrols and briefed senior military leaders as an
infantry scout platoon leader Following his 2016 Afghanistan deployment, Richard was
awarded the Bronze Star Medal by the Secretary of the Army and promoted to the rank of
Captain Shortly before entering law school, he served as an Intelligence Officer for the 1st
Special Forces Group at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington
Anthony Rychkov | Seattle | Rising 2L | Seattle University
Gregoire Fellow
Anthony most recently worked as a Legal Intern on Microsoft’s Corporate, External & Legal
Affairs Gaming team He also previously worked at the City of Sammamish as a Management
Analyst, where he supported the City Attorney in drafting utility franchise agreements and
advising department directors A first-generation college grad from Miami, Fla., Anthony
received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science & Business Administration from the
University of Florida Anthony moved from Florida to Seattle in Summer 2019, and though he
misses the sunny beaches of Florida, he enjoys the summer (and sometimes winter) scenery of
Washington state
Jocabeth (Joca) Zarate | Portland | Rising 3L | University of Oregon
Multnomah Bar Association Fellow
Originally from Baldwin Park, Calif., Joca made the move up north and obtained her bachelor’s
degree in History from Southern Oregon University At the University of Oregon School of Law,
she has been serving as Treasurer of the Latinx Law Student Association In Spring 2021, Joca
received her Community Mediation Certificate She is passionate about exploring how the law
can be more accessible for those in the community Joca is also excited about the prospect of
practicing in the Pacific Northwest, her adopted homeland, which she admires for its collegial
law community In her spare time, she likes to peruse Netflix and enjoy a good meal at a local
restaurant
