Dear Friend,

When the Kaplan Educational Foundation was established in 2006, we crafted a mission

to help underrepresented students of exceptional merit achieve their dreams through both leadership training and transfer from community college to top colleges

As we celebrate our 12th year of positively changing the educational opportunities and futures through the Kaplan Leadership Program, we are also thrilled that, thanks to the support we have received, we launched the Transfer Initiative Program allowing us to serve

more students We also published Your 2018 Guide to College Transfer and distributed

it nationwide to ensure that more students across the U.S also have access to transfer admissions and financial aid information for the top 90 colleges and universities

It is business partners like you who are the key to our success in positively and directly affecting the lives of our scholars and the many students who attend community colleges and aspire to have a positive impact on their communities Their journey from community college

to selective colleges and universities ultimately changes the trajectory of their lives!

This year’s Benefit theme is “Today’s Dreams, Tomorrow’s Leaders.” The event takes place

on Tuesday, June 5th at the Harvard Club of New York. We are thrilled to honor Daniel R Porterfield, Ph.d, president of Franklin & Marshall College and incoming President and CEO

of the Aspen Institute for his lifelong commitment to inclusivity and diversity His impact and emphasis on enhancing academic excellence, promoting student access and success by strengthening resources for holistic student development, make him an exemplary leader in higher education

I want to personally invite you to become a Corporate Sponsor of the Benefit and invest in our mission to help Kaplan Scholars reach their full potential This year, our evening will include extended time at the cocktail reception And, a condensed dinner program, followed

by a dessert reception, will give our guests the opportunity to meet our scholars and network with Kaplan and Graham Holdings executives, distinguished leaders in higher education, business, philanthropy and professional services I sincerely hope you will join us

Please review the information that follows and give today Contact Patti Lee, Director of Development, at patti.stracherlee@kaplanedfoundation.org or call 212/313-4481

With gratitude,

Nancy L Sánchez

Executive Director

The living stipend is vital and makes it

possible for students to engage more

fully in their studies and in extracurricular

activities, which prepares them for future

leadership roles.

The Kaplan Leadership Program proves that low-income, first generation community college students of color can successfully transfer and excel at selective colleges and universities.

Top-tier colleges and universities actively

pursue and recruit KLP scholars for

transfer.

Our comprehensive, high-touch approach

is central to scholar successes, particularly

In September 2017, we launched the Transfer Initiative Program

(TIP) for community college students of color who were not

admitted to the KLP but have a leadership profile and a clear

desire to transfer to selective colleges and universities We

provide TIP students with transfer admissions advisement and

individualized writing coaching, as well as financial support
