Meeting Minutes – Wednesday, March 10, 2021

A Introductions

Laura Stetson began meeting at 6:05 p.m Laura introduced Staff and committee members Manuel Munoz, Planning Manager took roll call:

Present - Andrew N Mendez, Azusa City Council

Present - Mercedes Castro, Azusa Planning Commission

Absent - Christell Hutchinson, Azusa Senior Advisory Committee

Present - Steve Castro, Azusa Chamber of Commerce

Absent - Latasha Jamal, Azusa Unified School District

Absent - Maureen Taylor, Azusa Pacific University

B Nominate Chair and Vice Chair

Andrew Mendez nominated Mercedes Castro as Chair Steve Castro seconded Mercedes Castro nominated Andrew Mendez as Vice Chair Steve Castro

Housing Element Update

Advisory Committee

• Opportunity Zones,

• Underutilized sites,

• ADUs,

• Reduced parking requirements,

• School- or City-owned properties as development opportunities,

• Infrastructure capacity to support new housing,

• Post-pandemic mixed-use concerns,

• Adaptive Re-use,

• Transfer of Development Rights (TDR),

• Inclusionary zoning/housing,

• Reaching out to stakeholders to fill out the Survey

D Public Comment

Marcella Rodriguez, resident, stated that she will share the survey with her HOA and others

Laura announced that the next steps in the process will be:

• Promoting the survey,

• March 30th

is the second Advisory meeting,

• An additional community workshop (date pending)

Chair M Castro adjourned the meeting at 7:25 p.m
