DURHAM, N.H. The University of New Hampshire Magazine was recently recognized with three national Circle of Excellence Awards from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education. The magazine also received two regional gold medals from the council
At the national level, UNH photographer Lisa Nugent won a gold medal for her photo "Hog Island, Maine," and Perry Smith, also
of UNH Photographic Services, won a silver medal for his photo
"Surfing the Net." Freelance writer J. Dennis Robinson was awarded a bronze medal in the Best Article category for "First Lady of Flying Saucers."
From the council's District I, covering the northeastern United States and eastern Canada, the magazine received gold medals for best magazine and best writing
Published three times a year, the UNH magazine is distributed to more than 115,000 readers, including alumni, parents of current students, faculty, staff and other friends of the university The editor of the magazine is Meg Betts Torbert, the designer is Valerie Lester, and Suki
Casanave and Virginia Stuart are coassociate editors. The magazine is also available online at
