Class II Core Build Up of Fractured #30 using
This 55-year-old patient presented with a chief complaint of discomfort while chewing on her lower right molar Tooth #30 was identified as the cause of the discomfort with fractures along the distal marginal ridge and the lingual wall Tooth #30 tested vital and was treatment planned for a core build-up and zirconia
crown However, the patient was leaving for vacation and did not wish to crown her tooth until she returned Therefore, it was decided to treat #30 with Surefil one self-adhesive restorative as the core build-up material with intentions to crown the tooth at a later date
After removal of the previous filling material and the distolingual cusp, which was undermined with fractures,
#30 was filled with Surefil one restorative The patient was impressed at the speed with which the tooth was restored, as no etchant or adhesive steps were needed She also had a core build-up that was durable like composite and had fluoride release like glass ionomer In addition, the dual-cure Surefil one restoration was completed without the need for layering The patient reported zero discomfort post-operatively and was not restricted in her diet while on vacation
