The information provided below will assist you in obtaining financial aid Some colleges require that students complete financial aid applications before they may qualify for scholarships The main way for students to secure money and qualify for scholarships for college is by applying for
financial aid The FSA ID is a secure username and password that you will use to log into the FAFSA You may create your FSA ID any time prior
to starting the financial aid application Visit https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm to create your FSA ID If you don't have one by the time you fill
out your FAFSA, you will be prompted to apply for one You may apply for financial aid by completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal
Student Aid) form at www.fafsa.ed.gov and the New York State TAP (Tuition Assistance Program) form online beginning on October 1st of your senior year New York State (NYS) Residents attending NYS schools will have the option to link directly to the TAP application from the FAFSA
submission confirmation page If you exited the FAFSA before selecting this option, you can complete the application after NYS HESC (New York
State Higher Education Services Corporation) receives your FAFSA data (three days) HESC will send you an email or postcard notifying you to complete the TAP application online If you did not select the FAFSA link to TAP at the end of the FAFSA application, you may visit the TAP web page at www.hesc.ny.gov
