Model Answer 1:
The table data provides information on potato consumption and production in different parts
of the world in 2006 Overall, average potato intake in Europe was the highest while Asia and Europe were the major potato producers in 2006.
As the data suggests, an average European ate slightly over 96 kilograms potato in 2006 which was higher than the potato consumption in other parts of the world With roughly 58 kg potato consumption per person in 2006, North America stood at the second top position Asia, despite its highest potato accumulation, accounted for roughly 26 kg per person potato intake South and Central American citizens ate more than 23 kg per person while the least potato consumption could be observed in Africa, just over 14 kg per African.
Asian countries produced over 131 million tonnes potato in 2006 which was significantly higher than the potato growth in Africa and America Europe’s potato harvesting was the second largest, approximately 5 million tonnes less than that of Asia It is worth noticing that Asia and Europe were the principal potato growers in 2006.

Hey there!
Welcome to Life Noggin
A lot of people have requested that I do a video on cancer, and
i know it’s a pretty heavy subject, but I think we can learn a lot Just reading up about it, I found that in the United States this year, an estimated 1.7 million people will be diagnosed with cancer and an estimated 600,000 people will die of cancer? There will also be $5 billion spent funding the National Cancer Institute, which is the United States’ main agency for cancer research
and training
Trang 6With all that money being used in research, are we close to finding a cure?
It turns out that there are some newer treatments that seem promising, and we’ll talk about those in a minute, but first,
what is cancer exactly?
It’s important to note that cancer is not just one disease it’s a term we use that refers to a collection of over 100 diseases, including breast cancer, which is one of the most common
cancers in women in the United
States, and retinoblastoma, a rare eye cancer that usually
affects children 5 years or younger
Cancers start off when cells go bad, accumulating specific
genetic mutations, dividing out of control, and evading death
In most cancers, this can result in lumps, or tumors, that invade nearby tissue
Most symptoms vary depending on cancer type
For instance, skin cancer is often associated with abnormal growths on the surface of the skin, including bumps,
discoloration, lesions, or changes to existing moles
While indications for lung cancer include a persistent cough, shortness of breath, and chest pain, among others
And each type of cancer may require a different treatment or cure
To help fight it, you can use things like high doses of radiation, chemotherapy drugs, and targeted therapy
But even with these methods, cancer cells can still find ways to hide or build a resistance to treatment
Here’s where the newer treatments and research comes in Earlier this year, a study performed on mice found two new ways that could overcome resistance to a certain targeted
therapy drug
The resistance seems to be caused by an increase in insulin, a hormone that regulates blood sugar
Trang 7The researchers found that when giving the drug in conjunction with either a high-fat, ketogenic diet or with a common drug used to treat type 2 diabetes, they saw greater tumor
shrinkage than with just the targeted therapy drug alone
There’s also a newer treatment method called immunotherapy, which helps the immune system fight cancer cells
A recent study tested the effects of the immunotherapy drug pembrolizumab, also known as Keytruda, on patients with a common type of lung cancer
This drug works by blocking a specific protein interaction that lets cancer cells instruct immune cells to ignore them
Used in combination with chemotherapy, researchers found that patients were 51 percent less likely to die compared to chemo patients receiving a placebo
Advancements like these in cancer treatment has helped
patients live longer lives
From 1991 to 2015, the rate of cancer related deaths dropped
by a total of 26 percent, translating to over 2.3 million lives saved
So, while progress may be slow, we are definitely moving in the right direction

Dengue is the commonest mosquito-borne viral infection in humans Every year, over 100 million people get infected with dengue and around ten-thousand people die from it It used to
be localized to Asia, South America, and Africa But increased global mobility due to tourism and migrations is slowly making dengue a global disease
Dengue is an RNA virus in the family, Flavivirus It has four different antigenic varieties Infection with one type provides lifelong immunity to that type, but only short term immunity to other types If you get a subsequent infection with a different type, it increases the risk of developing severe complications of dengue
Dengue is transmitted mainly by the mosquito Aedes aegypti, which breeds in standing water containers such as tires, barrels, and discarded bottles The mosquito becomes infective about two weeks after feeding on an infected person and remains infective for life
Symptoms appear about 5-6 days after the mosquito bite Dengue can present in many ways
1 Some patients are asymptomatic or develop only a mild fever
2 In Classic Dengue Fever, the patient gets fever for about three days The fever then subsides and returns again in a couple of days This biphasic pattern of fever is called saddleback fever
a Fever is associated with fatigue, skin rashes, retro-orbital pain and backache It’s also called break-bone fever because of severe joint and muscle pains
3 Dengue hemorrhagic fever is a severe form of dengue It’s believed to be the result of two or more sequential infections with different antigenic types
a It starts as a mild upper respiratory tract infection
b Then all of a sudden Plasma of the blood leaks into the pleural space and peritoneal cavity This phenomenon is known
as capillary leak syndrome These patients also have low platelet (tế bào gây đông máu) levels and may develop bleeding into the skin or gastrointestinal tract and go into dengue shock syndrome
NS1 antigen testing or virus isolation can be done in the early stages of fever, to support the clinical diagnosis Antibodies
Trang 11specific to dengue can be identified after the initial phase of the disease
There is no effective cure for dengue But supportive care is essential to prevent death from complications
One dengue vaccine has been licensed so far, but there are a few issues about its safety Destroying the breeding sites of mosquitos and applying mosquito repellents are the best ways
to prevent dengue
