Priorities
In order to improve further the school has identified and actioned the following:
Raise standards in Oracy across the Foundation Phase
End of FP Speaking and listening 100% achieved Outcome 5
Planning throughout the Foundation Phase continues to show a range of speaking and listening opportunities across areas of learning An area dedicated to activities that promote oracy eg small world, construction has been established in Early Foundation Phase A teaching assistant in Upper Foundation Phase works on oracy tasks with small groups every afternoon in Upper Foundation Phase
Consistently raise standards and expectations in Literacy and Numeracy across the curriculum
Trang 4The data group analysed the available data and have identified the target groups for intervention programmes, delivered by staff and funded by the School Effectiveness Grant and Pupil Deprivation Grant The PDG and SEG grants are included in the School Improvement Plan (SIP) It outlines the activities to be undertaken to close the gap in attainment for the specific groups of learners During Data dialogue the progress of pupils receiving support was shared Groups and activities were revised to maximize progress and impact
Analysis was shared with governing body to agree priorities for the SIP in September

Use tracking and assessment of new curriculum including LNF link to a whole school PM objective
All teachers agreed whole school objective Planning reflects coverage of Programme of Study (POS) Termly tracked statements show opportunities given for learners Lessons were more tailored to develop learner skills in Literacy and Numeracy Planning revolves around the new POS, evaluations of lessons and children meeting personal targets
The Literacy and Numeracy subject leaders carried out book scrutinies SMT held data dialogue with classteachers following data analysis
Seek the views of learners more widely
The methods for gathering pupils’ views have been more varied eg graffiti wall, online surveys They have covered a range of issues eg marking pupil’s work, sports survey, transition, responsibility roles It is becoming an established element of information gathering and decision making The democratic process is being understood by more of the school community as the opportunities broaden Pupils holding senior roles
attended the election of school council members at Rhosnesni High school They met and discussed issues with our AM and MP at several events
The pupils on Little voice project decided to gather views on litter in Wrexham town centre using a wide range of methods eg survey monkey, Twitter, interviews, videos, film making, graffiti wall Their findings were shared with our governors, councillors and AM
to impact change Excellent research skills were applied to the decision making process The groups film forms part of the report to Welsh Government United Nations
Convention of the Rights of the Child committee Mrs Young and Mrs Roberts
accompanied some of the group to Bangor University on 29th June
Review the curriculum Science/K&U, Welsh and PE/Physical
Monitoring of continuity and progression has taken place by HT looking at planning and subject leaders reviewing long and med term planning Monitoring of provision and standards has been carried out by Learning Walk for incidental Welsh, PE/physical lesson observations and a science book/work scrutiny Feedback has been given on strengths and areas for development on whole staff and individual level in all 3 subjects Peer subject leaders have reviewed the policy reflecting changes eg LNF and audited the resources Replacement or additions to resources have been purchased following
discussion with HT A report was delivered to the curriculum committee of the governing body in the Autumn term 2016
Narrowing the Poverty and Gender gap (PDG plan)
Trang 5Two SAP groups have been undertaken twice this year, one in lower juniors and one group in upper juniors Extra staffing continues to enable a large percentage of learning experiences to be delivered in the outdoor setting Identified pupils in Year 1 and 2 are receiving extra support with Speaking and Listening and reading The Teaching Assistant reviews in the summer term informed arrangements for delivery of intervention work from September 2016 Our attendance officer worked closely with school and families
to improve attendance She monitored attendance levels fortnightly, particularly for FSM pupils The school attendance level was 94.7% The target set for this year is 95.1% Feedback from parents and prospective new parents was very positive regarding the school website
Community Link
The school maintains its strong links with the community Wrexham FC worked with junior girls to raise engagement in the sport Pupils from year 1 to year 5 have had tennis coaching
at the Wrexham Tennis Centre The Eco committee have carried out litter picking around the school area
The annual sports day was well attended Various activities with other primary schools and Rhosnesni High School were held
Representatives of the police, fire and health authorities visited the school and spoke with the children on a number of subjects
Special Educational Needs
The school aims to identify pupils with SEN at an early stage Children with learning
difficulties will be given differentiated work and / or appropriate assistance within their classes
Parents are kept fully informed of their child’s progress and where appropriate any outside specialist help is obtained A copy of the schools SEN Policy is available on request The school liaises with the LEA team and High Schools for transition from Yr6
Disabled Pupils
Rhosddu Primary School welcomes its responsibilities to promote disability equality
according to the Disability Equality Act The Disability Equality Scheme (DES) addresses the needs of Rhosddu Primary School to take proactive steps to promote disability equality for all pupils, employers, parents, carers and service users in the light of the Equality Act 2010, which replaces a range of anti-discrimination legislation, including the Disability
Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA) and subsequent amendments Rhosddu School Disability Action Plan for 2015-2016 was reviewed by the Governing Body on 11th March 2015
The governing body is aware of the need to ensure that pupils with special needs have the right to join everyday activities with other pupils (subject to certain conditions set out in section 161(4) of the Education Act 1993)
Trang 6Physical access to the school is not a problem and the school has toilets adapted for use by disabled pupils, employers, parents, carers and service users
Attendance
Number of authorised absences 4% and 1.3% unauthorised absences
The Governing Body set a target for 95.1% and our actual attendance was 94.7%
Child Protection
The Welsh Office guidance makes it clear that Schools have an important role to play in the protection of children from abuse This is confirmed in the Wrexham County Borough Council Policy, which sets out procedures to be followed by staff The school therefore has
a DUTY to refer any concerns about the wellbeing of pupils to the Social Services Dept and the school medical officer for further advice
Sport
All pupils receive P.E instruction (unless exempt on health grounds) Junior children receive funded swimming instruction and Rhosddu school fund gymnastics instruction A P.E scheme of work is in place, a copy of which is available on request In addition children take part in friendly sporting competitions with local schools and in the Wrexham District Sports each year We continue to participate in activities and meetings with our cluster Miss Jones represents Rhosddu school
Pupil and Staff Security
The safety of the pupils and staff is of paramount concern to us Over the years various controls have been put in place such as coded locks, CCTV, new gates etc This is always under constant review and the level of vandalism has become almost negligible

Policies and schemes of work for both National Curriculum and Non-National Curriculum subjects are available on request
Language
The language of the school is English
Use of Welsh Language
Welsh is taught as an additional language to non-Welsh speakers at Foundation Phase and
at Key Stage 2
Provision of Toilet Facilities
The school has a toilet training policy available on request All toilets for pupils have been refurbished to a high standard in recent years We have a toilet adapted for disabled use

The school follows the Appetite for Life scheme in line with Wrexham Council We
participate in the Local Authority Healthy schools scheme
School Uniform
Although the Governors of Primary Schools cannot make the wearing of a school uniform compulsory we would respectfully ask for your cooperation in this matter as it promotes pride in the school and aids discipline in the community

Medical
Wrexham has a comprehensive school health service Each school has a named doctor and nurse Vision, hearing, growth and dental examinations take place The aim of the service is
to promote the health of your child and identify any problems
Charging and Remissions
Charging
The Governing Body reserves the right to make a charge in the following circumstances for activities organised by the school:
School journeys in school hours
The board and lodging element of any residential activities deemed to take place within school hours
Activities outside of school hours
The full cost to each pupil of any activities deemed to be optional extras, taking place outside of school hours
The Governing Body may from time to time amend the categories of activities for which a charge may be made
Nothing in this policy statement precludes the Governing Body from inviting people to make voluntary contributions towards the cost of providing education for the pupils
Remissions
Parents may qualify for remission for Board and Lodging expenses only Parents must provide evidence that they are in receipt of the following: Income Support, Jobseeker’s Allowance (Income Based) Child Tax Credit with an income below £16,190

The Governors recognise the valuable contribution that a wide range of additional activities including educational visits make towards the pupils’ personal and social education The governing body aims to promote and provide such activities both as part of a broad and balanced curriculum and as additional activities
Testing
Foundation Phase
On entry to the school, pupils are assessed Results are used to inform planning, set targets and aid early identification of special needs
Pupils were teacher assessed against the Learning Journey to ensure that the next steps in learning were appropriately planned in order to help them make progress
Pupils at the end of the Foundation Phase (Year 2) were teacher assessed against the
Foundation Outcomes and the data collected was sent to the Local Authority and the Welsh Government
Key Stage 2
Pupils were teacher assessed against the national curriculum levels in English, Welsh, Mathematics and Science, twice a year, to ensure that the next steps in learning were appropriately planned in order to help them make progress
Pupils in Year 3-6 undertook Suffolk reading test in the Autumn term
Pupils at the end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6) were teacher assessed and the data collected was sent to the Local Authority and the Welsh Government
Year 2 to Year 6
Pupils from Year 2 to Year 6 undertook the Young’s spelling test twice a year, in the Autumn and Spring terms
Pupils from Year 2 to Year 6 will take National Reading and Numeracy tests in May of each year
Target Setting
At the End of Foundation Phase the percentage of children achieving Outcome 5 and above was Language Literacy and Communication in English 93%; Maths 93%; Personal and Social Development 98% Our school targets were for 93% of pupils to attain outcome 5 and above in Language Literacy and Communication in English; 95% in Mathematical
Development and 100% in Personal and Social Development
At Key stage 2 the percentage of children achieving level 4 and above was English 100%; Maths 100%; Science 100% Our school target was 100% of pupils to attain level 4 in
English; 100% in Maths and 100% in Science
Trang 9We are very pleased with the school results, which reflect the ability and hard work of the children and the hard work of all the staff at Rhosddu School
Contact with the School
Parents are encouraged to work in partnership with staff by cooperating in promoting good discipline, overseeing homework and sharing home / school reading records Formal
Parents Evenings are held during the year and Annual Reports are sent out also, but parents are welcome to discuss slow progress or problems as they arise However, the Governors urge that appointments be made so that valuable teaching time is not lost
