Job Description
In order to fulfill the purpose of the position, the Director of Donor Relations and Scholarships will utilize multiple and varied approaches in planning, implementing, overseeing, and
accounting for the scholarship programs and donor gift acknowledgements of all East Carolina University constituents Included in this responsibility are certain expectations: (these
expectations are included in but not necessarily limited to.)
-Manage the stewardship of major donors and prospects for contributions to all academic
programs
-Develop and maintain tracking systems to ensure that major gift officers and ECU administrators steward assigned donors/prospects on a regular basis
-Manage verification of funding for academic scholarships for EC Scholars and miscellaneous merit scholarships each academic year; maintain systems for informing donors about scholarship recipients on an annual basis; create and distribute endowment reports to donors
-Develop and maintain scholarship tracking systems providing up-to-date information on
scholarship accounts, sources of funds and scholarship recipients
-Manage gift acknowledgement system to ensure donors receive appropriate documentation verifying gifts and expressing appreciation for their support of East Carolina University
-Work and coordinate with other members of the advancement staff to accomplish the goals and objectives for the University
-Develop and implement consistent policies and procedures for donor stewardship among the two Foundations
-Manage and coordinate special events recognizing donors to various giving clubs and lifetime giving societies
-Coordinate an annual honor roll of donors for various giving societies with the Director of Communications These listings will be published in the ECU Foundation annual report and on the ecu.edu website
-Manage, motivate and evaluate the Assistant Director of Special Events
Minimum Qualifications
-Undergraduate degree required; master's degree preferred All degrees should be from
appropriately accredited institutions
-Excellent written and oral communication skills
-Ability to interact positively with a wide range of individuals
-Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting policies
-Creativity, flexibility, and the capability to work with limited supervision
-Energy, integrity, sincerity and the desire to succeed
