Multiple Master Planning Projects with Tribal Communities

Beginning with Navajo Preparatory School Master Plan in 1997 for a 82-acre college preparatory campus and including ten years working on Tawa’ovi, a sustainable new town on Second Mesa for the Hopi Tribe, a master plan for the Havasupai Tribe, a housing master plan for the Salt River Pima-Maricopa community, and an educational master plan for Fort McDowell Yavapai-Apache

Community-based Projects

Beginning in 2010 and working with Arizona Forward served as Vice-Chair and Chairman of the Canalscape Committee reviving a community initiative aimed at revitalizing Phoenix’s canal system; wrote original planning grant and lead design team that brought four neighboring schools into an interactive process to implement innovative design along the Arizona Canal between Central Avenue and 7th Street

2014-present: working with Shiprock Planning Commission, Navajo Prep School University of New Mexico on a joint effort to implement sustainable and culturally appropriate planning models in Shiprock, Arizona

Modular Housing

Created an initiative in 2012 with Clayton Homes and Kitchell Native American to design and construct culturally appropriate, factory- built housing for the Indian community Prototypes include sustainable, passive solar housing designed for a wide range of tribal clients across the Southwest
