TEMP Program Assistant/Life Skills Coach – THP+ Foster Care and THPP (August through December)
SUMMARY:
The Program Assistant/Life Skills Coach provides administrative support to the Program Supervisor and program and also provides skills training and coaching to youth housed
in THP+ FC and THPP programs by performing the following duties TEMP
assignment August through December 2016 – full time hours.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide administrative support to Program Supervisor as required
Care and Supervision of youth who are working towards independent living
Assist individual youth in daily life skills such as grocery shopping, education
attendance and performance, budgeting, house cleaning, food preparation, healthy eating, physical exercise and recreation, use of public transportation, time management
Assist youth with problem solving skills using open ended questions to help youth
look at all possible solutions
Facilitate conflict resolution through individual and group discussion
Model and demonstrate skills that you are facilitating youth to learn and maintain
Help youth develop and utilize daily planners as a tool for time management
skills
Assist with transportation and support when directed for medical, dental,
psychiatric, school, DFCS and Service Providers’ meeting/activities including ILP, etc
Assist in development of Safety Plans and provide crisis interventions when
needed
Assist with the monthly house supply shopping for facilities
Maintain constant communication with Program Supervisor and Case Managers
Facilitate weekly House, Safety meetings and bed bug checks
Conduct monthly fire and earthquake drills; document on required forms
Documentation in online AWARDS system
Assist youth with employment opportunities, interviews, resume development,
professionalism, etc
Mentor, coach and model professionalism, social skills development and social
Trang 2 Assist youth in accomplishing weekly contracting goals
Participate in all meetings and training sessions as required
Participate in agency Program Quality Improvement activities and initiatives
Participate in agency Safety initiatives and proactively report safety issues to
management immediately
Regular attendance required
Other duties as may be assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university and one to two years related experience and/or training Experience working with youth, homeless and culturally diverse youth Knowledge of needs and resources for runaway, homeless and street youth, youth with mental health issues highly desired Fingerprint/background check, health screening and TB required CPR and First Aid certifications required (or done within 30 days of hire) Driving is a requirement of the position – must have possession of valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle and personal automobile insurance
