Major grades = 50%

Tests, projects, playing tests, rehearsal attendance, concert and performance attendance

Minor grades = 50%

Homework, daily participation/class work, quizzes

Leaving Class

Students should try to use the restroom before they enter my classroom Students that do not plan accordingly will be allowed to go to the restroom in exchange for lunch detention (unless they have a special prior permission) Students must have their agenda with them every day in order to leave class for any reason

Concerts

All students will participate in at least two concerts (Winter and Spring) Concert dates will be announced in advance If for some reason you have an immediate conflict with the date when

announced, please contact me as soon as possible Concert attendance is mandatory and is

factored into the student’s grade Only under extreme circumstances, will a student be excused

from the concert (i.e death in the family, emergency medical situation) All students are also

required to stay in attendance for the duration of the entire concert Concerts last between 45

minutes and an hour and will be held in the Lugoff-Elgin High School auditorium Band attire will be announced prior to performances

All 7th and 8th graders will be required to perform at the South Carolina Band Director’s Association Concert Performance Assessment The will perform with their perspective grade levels

Other SC Band Events

These events are listed in the calendar The more in which a student participates, the more points a student receive for end of the year awards LEMS also receives points for a school award based off participation These events will require much individual practice They are not mandatory, but highly recommended

I look forward to another awesome school year! Parents please do not hesitate

to contact me if you have any questions!
